## The impact you’ll make
Responsibilities may include a combination of the following: Hardware Development: Directs, leads, and manages the technical activities of a hardware development function for electronic design, mechanical design and/or hardware reliability. Software Development: Directs, leads, and manages the technical activities of a software development function for software systems, applications and/or software quality assurance. Systems Design: Directs, leads, and manages the technical activities of an integrated hardware/software systems design function.
## What you’ll do
- Lead, coach and develop a team of mechanical engineers working on semiconductor wafer-processing equipment through regular 1:1s, feedback and development discussions.
- Oversee team performance, workforce and resource planning, hiring, onboarding and talent development, and build a strong succession pipeline for key roles.
- Promote a team culture built on ownership, collaboration, continuous improvement and high engineering standards.
- Plan team capacity across development and program work, sustaining engineering, problem reports, obsolescence and customer escalations.
- Contribute to the technical roadmap, and present progress, risks and recommendations to senior management.
- Act as reviewer and decision maker in design reviews. Give technical guidance on design, materials, testing and validation in line with SEMI, company and GD&T standards.
- Own the team's incoming work, including technical problem reports, supplier requests, customer-specific requests and engineering change management (Change Review Board, ECNs).
- Handle engineering escalations from customers, production and suppliers. Contain issues quickly, align stakeholders on actions and communicate status until resolution.
- Drive obsolescence management, from validating replacement parts through qualification and last-time-buy input.
- Represent Engineering in cross-functional problem solving and continuous improvement activities (8D, root cause analysis, corrective actions), ensuring lessons learned drive sustainable improvements. Be the primary engineering interface for Supply Chain, Production, and suppliers.
- Act as key user for engineering tools (Teamcenter PLM, Compliance Quest, SAP Fiori), including training and testing.
## Who we’re looking for
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 6+ years of relevant engineering experience, including experience in concept development and concept testing.
- 3+ years of proven leadership experience as a people manager, team lead or technical lead.
- Strong mechanical design background (metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics, coatings) and 3D CAD experience (Siemens NX, Creo, SolidWorks or similar).
- Solid knowledge of structured development and change processes (PLM, design reviews, FMEA, test specifications).
- Strong prioritization and communication skills. Fluent in English; German is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in semiconductor equipment development or another high-tech industry.
- Experience with Teamcenter PLM, Compliance Quest or similar systems.
- Experience in coaching and talent development, project management and resource planning.
- Experience working with teams across several sites.
## What We're Offering
This position is subject to the Austrian Collective Bargaining Agreement for Employees in the Metal Technology Industry in occupation group H. The monthly salary is paid 14 times per year. Please follow the link below in the "Employment in Austria" section for further information.
