The Opportunity:
The Franceschi Microscopy & Imaging Center (FMIC) is a centralized research and educational facility housed in the College of Arts and Sciences and available to all Washington State University (WSU) researchers for the observation, imaging, and ultrastructural study of biological and non-biological specimens. Founded in 1962, the Center is one of the oldest in the United States. The Center provides a safe, fully-equipped laboratory complex for specimen preparation for both light and electron microscopy. Some experience in electron or confocal microscopy is expected, but we encourage applicants from the life sciences and engineering/material science disciplines to apply.
We are looking for an Electron Microscope Technician to join our team. You will help and teach users, develop new methods, and take care of our equipment. The FMIC has a long history of providing research support and student training.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Performing and applying advanced, specialized electron microscopy techniques making independent examination of material. Serving as technical consultant to faculty and investigators with diagnostic problems or research projects. Developing and applying new techniques or procedures applicable to diagnostic ultrastructural pathology or research. You will also direct the work of, and instruct, post-doctoral fellows, students, or student helpers.

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
This position works on-site/in-person at the WSU campus in Pullman, WA.
Monthly Salary: $5,111 to $6,870| Range 54 | Steps A - M
Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field which includes coursework in such areas as chemistry, biology, geology, natural sciences, or related sciences, AND two years of experience in an electron microscopy laboratory; OR equivalent education/experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters or PhD in a life sciences/engineering/material sciences discipline.
