JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
The Resident Parks & Facilities Technician I will be responsible for event preparation, entry level custodial and semi-skilled labor activities related to the maintenance, repair, and restoration of parks, park amenities, facilities, and structures, oversight and upkeep of the property, and customer service activities at assigned properties and locations. The position requires residing onsite in the Carriage House Apartment at Boettcher Mansion.
SCHEDULE:
This position requires in person work, reporting on site to the Boettcher Mansion & Lookout Mountain Nature Center. This role works 40 hours/week 5 days a week, Wednesday through Sunday. Schedule adjustments with little notice may be necessary for urgent facility or property needs. Please note that weekends will be required for this position.
COMPENSATION:
Hiring Range: $22.00 - $23.60 USD Hourly
Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Prepare locations for events by determining the most efficient configurations. Set up equipment. Accommodate specific customer requests. Confirm code compliance.
- Answers visitor questions and provide information about park rules, safety, and resources. Interact with the public and vendors through effective oral, written and electronic means. Act as a reference for park users. Coordinate with vendors and contractors, as needed, for specialized maintenance and repairs.
- Train in and perform custodian duties including cleaning and restocking of public restrooms, removal of bags from trash collecting receptacles, cleaning grills, safe removal of hot ash, and picking up litter on park grounds. Participate in conducting regularly scheduled maintenance.
- Train and repair routine and preventative maintenance activities and work requests by routinely observing various locations. This includes seasonal activities such as snow removal. Keep accurate records of maintenance work and repairs performed.
- Respond to emergency situations by determining the necessary plan of action including gate operation and alarm response. Utilize available resources and determine the supplies needed. Escalate emergencies as needed to JCPOS leadership.
- Train in the use of hand and power tools, and light equipment including weed trimmer, mowers, and chain saws. Operate a pickup truck. Train and assist with equipment and vehicle pre and post use inspections.
- Coordinate with other staff to ensure that all tasks are being carried out efficiently and effectively.
- Train and assist with the maintenance, upkeep, repair and improvement of parks and park, amenities, facilities, structures, fencing, and storm water drainage solutions. Performs fence and boundary maintenance.
- Assist and train in the maintenance of trees, grasses, and weeds near trailheads, amenities, facilities, and park structures for safety and aesthetics. Assist with tree trimming and removal activities. Train in the application of herbicides and pesticides. Responsible for oversight and upkeep of the property by maintaining the property’s landscaping and routine cleaning. Ensures that all safety and security features are working properly.

- Building systems, maintenance, and safety procedures
- Basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry principles
- Groundskeeping, landscaping, and seasonal property care
- Building codes, fire and life safety standards, and preventive maintenance practices
- Coordination with contractors, vendors, and event staff
- Historic preservation awareness and sensitivity to older structures
- Effective communication and teamwork across departments and vendors
- Sound judgment and problem-solving in routine and emergency situations
- Time management and prioritization in a multi-task environment
- Event and space setup, including equipment configuration and code compliance.
- Maintain clean, safe, and visually appealing grounds and facilities
- Identify and address maintenance needs proactively
- Adapt to changing priorities, weather, and seasonal demands
- Work independently with minimal supervision while ensuring accountability

- Driver’s License: Positions that require driving on County business in either a county or personal vehicle require a valid Colorado’s driver’s license within 30-days of hire or beginning to serve as an intern or volunteer.
