Position Details
The Department of Health Sciences and Human Performance within the College of Natural and Health Sciences at The University of Tampa invites applications for a non-tenure-track, full-time position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor, beginning in August 2027.
This position will have teaching and service requirements. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in Human Anatomy and Physiology. Each candidate will be expected to teach 27 contact hours per academic year. Opportunities for summer teaching may be available. This is a non-tenure track position with opportunities for promotion.
Teaching: The successful candidate will have potential for excellence in teaching, a critical area for our teaching-centered, primarily undergraduate institution. Applicants should be eager to create engaging, inclusive learning environments for our diverse student body that emphasize shared learning objectives across a range of subject areas within the health sciences. Potential to teach other introductory courses as needed by the department.
Service and Student Involvement: We expect our colleagues to fully engage with the institution by providing and/or developing expertise that serves the broader needs of the institution as a requirement for this position. Service opportunities at the departmental, collegiate and university levels are widely available. Community and professional service are also valued contributions, particularly where relevant to the discipline. Successful colleagues engage undergraduate students a variety of activities as a means of providing greater depth and opportunity to the educational experience at the university. Faculty members also advise students each semester, providing important guidance for enrollment as well as career advice.
Qualifications: A PhD in Health Science, Biology, or related discipline is required.
The ideal candidate for this position will have demonstrated expertise in human anatomy and physiology. Prior in-person teaching experience and a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence in lower division undergraduate courses is required. Preferential consideration will be given to those with experience in teaching in-person anatomy and physiology for nursing and health science majors.
Salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
