At Johnson & Johnson, we believe health is everything.
Our strength in healthcare innovation empowers us to build a world where complex diseases are prevented, treated and cured, where treatments are smarter and less invasive, and where solutions are personalised. Through our expertise in Innovative Medicine and MedTech, we are uniquely positioned to innovate across the full spectrum of healthcare solutions and deliver the breakthroughs of tomorrow.
Purpose of the Role
Pulsed field ablation is reshaping electrophysiology, and Johnson & Johnson MedTech is entering an exciting new phase of innovation across the UK & Ireland.
Our ambition goes beyond introducing new technology. We want to build outstanding clinical capability across our organisation, help customers translate emerging evidence into confident clinical practice, and ensure our teams are ready to maximise the potential of our current portfolio and future pipeline.
The PFA Education Lead is a new, high-visibility role for an experienced electrophysiology professional who combines deep clinical credibility with a passion for education, capability development and innovation.
The position brings together two complementary responsibilities: leading clinical excellence and field development within London, while driving national initiatives that strengthen PFA knowledge, clinical skills, competitive confidence and customer education across the UK & Ireland.
This is a project-led role with significant cross-functional influence across Clinical Development, Marketing, Professional Education, Medical Affairs, Sales and EMEA partners. It provides breadth beyond a conventional regional clinical role while maintaining a meaningful connection to customers.
Key Responsibilities
London Clinical Excellence and Field Development
Approximately 40% of the role
- Provide visible and credible clinical leadership across priority London EP centres.
- Partner with London leadership, Clinical Leads and New Technology Specialists to identify and address capability-development priorities.
- Coach and develop colleagues within the EP laboratory, strengthening clinical knowledge, procedural confidence and customer engagement.
- Support new technology launches, first cases, operator development and the adoption of evolving clinical workflows.
- Build strong relationships with physicians, physiologists and other clinical stakeholders.
- Identify successful approaches within London and translate relevant best practice into scalable learning across the wider UK & Ireland organisation.
- Support clinical excellence across the CARTO® 3 ecosystem and PFA portfolio.
National PFA Education and Capability Development
Approximately 60% of the role
- Own the development and execution of a national PFA capability strategy across the UK & Ireland.
- Build role-based development pathways spanning foundational PFA science, clinical evidence, procedural workflows, platform integration and advanced capability.
- Establish scalable learning and development approaches, including workshops, simulation, train-the-trainer programmes, field coaching and appropriate annual recertification.
- Define appropriate measures of learning effectiveness, capability progression and field impact.
Clinical Evidence and Competitive Insight
- Develop a strong understanding of the evolving PFA evidence base, competitive environment and emerging technologies.
- Capture relevant field intelligence, competitor developments, congress learning and published evidence and feed insights into UK&I and EMEA stakeholders.
- Work with Marketing and Medical Affairs to translate clinical and competitive insights into balanced, evidence-based and compliant education and field guidance.
- Develop practical clinical updates and learning tools that allow teams to confidently translate new evidence into customer conversations.
- Support evidence-generation initiatives and ensure clear distinction between published evidence, emerging data and approved external claims.
Customer Education
- Partner with Professional Education, Marketing and clinical teams to develop high-quality, scalable customer education.
- Support faculty-led programmes, simulation, workshops and peer-to-peer learning.
- Identify opportunities to create reusable educational content and programmes that can be deployed across the UK & Ireland.
- Work with UK&I facilities and education platforms, including Tempo where appropriate, to create differentiated learning experiences.
- Build relationships with customer faculty and help establish communities of best practice in PFA.
Portfolio and Pipeline Readiness
- Build organisational readiness for the continued evolution of PFA and the wider electrophysiology portfolio.
- Support capability development across VARIPULSE™, VARIPULSE Pro, Dual Energy THERMOCOOL SMARTTOUCH™ SF, CARTO® and future technologies.
- Translate new portfolio developments into practical clinical learning and launch-readiness programmes.
- Connect UK&I capability requirements with EMEA strategy and education plans.
- Ensure learning evolves as clinical evidence, technology and customer practice progress.
Cross-Functional and Enterprise Leadership
- Work across Clinical Development, Sales, Marketing, Professional Education, Medical Affairs and EMEA teams to align priorities and drive delivery.
- Lead projects through influence, with clear objectives, milestones and measures of impact.
- Act as a strong UK&I voice into wider PFA education and capability-development programmes.
- Share UK&I insight and best practice with EMEA partners and contribute to broader education strategy where appropriate.
- Maintain high standards of scientific balance, compliance, patient safety and integrity.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role will be demonstrated through:
- A consistently high national standard of PFA knowledge, clinical judgement, workflow support and customer dialogue.
- A clear and scalable development pathway from foundational PFA learning through advanced capability, launch readiness and ongoing recertification.
- London teams and priority accounts receiving visible, credible clinical leadership, coaching and support.
- Competitive developments being identified early, assessed objectively and translated into compliant, evidence-based field education.
- New clinical evidence, portfolio developments and pipeline learning being rapidly converted into practical education and usable tools.
- Stronger alignment between Clinical Development, Marketing, Professional Education, Medical Affairs and Sales around PFA capability.
- UK & Ireland becoming a recognised contributor to EMEA PFA education, clinical insight and best-practice sharing.
