About this role
We are looking for an R&D Attorney with 5+ years of legal experience to sit at the intersection of law and product — embedded directly with engineering teams to shape the AI features that in-house legal teams rely on every day. You'll bring deep legal expertise and a builder's mindset to help our client define what excellent legal AI actually looks like, from running evals to shipping new features alongside engineers.
What will you be doing?
-
Embed with engineering squads to co-develop new features and products, serving as the legal voice and product partner throughout the build cycle
-
Design and run rigorous evaluations (evals) to benchmark AI output quality against top-tier legal standards and competing models
-
Translate real in-house legal workflows and customer feedback into clear product requirements and acceptance criteria
-
AI-code using tools like Cursor and Claude to ship fixes, improvements, and new capabilities directly into the product
-
Train internal sales and solutions teams on new features so they can confidently represent the product to customers
Key Requirements
-
Licensed attorney with meaningful law firm training (AmLaw 100 firm strongly preferred) plus some in-house experience
-
Top 50–100 law school pedigree; top undergrad or technical undergrad a plus
-
Deep substantive expertise in at least one area of law (e.g. fintech, corporate/commercial, privacy, compliance, employment — non-tech industry backgrounds especially welcome)
-
Genuine comfort using AI tools (Claude, Cursor, etc.) and a builder mentality — willingness to vibe-code and ship PRs within the first month
-
Strong project management and cross-functional communication skills; no job-hopping (tenure matters)
