Overview

Our client is a South African company in the metal recycling, processing, and manufacturing industry, with a rich history of innovation and excellence. Their operations span across multiple divisions, including steel, copper, and aluminium processing, as well as waste management and the supply of finished steel products. They are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join their team in Johannesburg.

This role is critical to ensuring the smooth operation of their fleet by performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing faults, and conducting repairs on trucks, trailers, and other fleet vehicles.

Responsibilities

As a Diesel Mechanic, your key responsibilities will include:

• Conducting planned and unplanned maintenance on the fleet.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical breakdowns efficiently.
• Troubleshooting faults on trucks and trailers to ensure minimal downtime.
• Performing quality control checks on all maintenance and repair work.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A Red Seal Diesel Mechanic qualification (essential).
• A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience.
• Proven expertise in maintaining and repairing trucks and trailers.
• A valid Code 8 driver’s licence and reliable transport.
• The ability to work independently and perform effectively under pressure.
