We're representing a Series A voice AI startup that is building a platform to fully automate phone calls using AI. Their innovative technology allows businesses to handle a range of tasks from booking appointments to processing payments, all without human agents. This company is tackling complex challenges at the intersection of voice infrastructure and backend systems, with a focus on delivering high-quality, real-time interactions.

What You Will Do

• Build and maintain Python-based systems that drive the functionality of voice AI across complex, real-time conversations.
• Integrate and orchestrate multiple LLM providers, including prompt design and routing for optimal performance.
• Write clean, maintainable, and high-performance Python code, utilizing asyncio and best practices.
• Develop automated tests and validation suites to ensure system reliability and correctness.
• Monitor production systems, debug agent behavior, and implement improvements for conversation quality.
• Design and optimize database schemas, operating both SQL and NoSQL databases in a production environment.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to enhance system architecture and performance.

Ideal Candidate Background

• 5+ years of experience writing Python, particularly with async web applications using FastAPI.
• Strong understanding of backend architecture, microservices, and designing scalable systems.
• Proven experience in integrating LLMs and external APIs, with a focus on workflow logic.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks and a disciplined approach to automated testing.
• Experience with AWS and Kubernetes is beneficial but secondary to Python expertise.

Preferred

• Previous experience in a startup environment, demonstrating grit and the ability to thrive under pressure.
• A background in building or maintaining stateful backend systems with complex transitions and logic.

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary for this role ranges from $180K to $220K, with equity options between 0.1% and 0.45%. This is an opportunity to join a fast-moving team that values innovation and ownership, making a meaningful impact in the voice AI space.
