Description
- You will be expected to ship production code for a brand new product, not just extend or maintain existing systems.
- Contribute to the architecture and scaling of a real-time, collaborative content platform supporting global users.
- Build high-concurrency backend services in Go or Python to manage complex, distributed state synchronization across regions.
- Execute compute at the Edge via Cloudflare Workers and Durable Objects to maintain sub-100ms latency for a global user base.
- Design and maintain robust, type-safe API contracts that bridge high-performance backends with Next.js frontends.
- Integrate LLMs and RAG pipelines directly into the product to automate complex workflows and drive AI-assisted content generation.
- Orchestrate heavy-duty data workloads and messaging systems using GCP primitives like Pub/Sub, Spanner, and Cloud Run.
- Own the end-to-end delivery of complex features, contributing to architectural decisions while partnering closely with senior engineers.
- Collaborate with a lean, senior-heavy team to establish engineering standards, deployment pipelines, and a "quality-first" culture.
- Operate in a high-ambiguity environment where you are expected to translate product direction into technical execution without fully defined specs.
- Professional experience shipping production-grade systems in Go or Python and TypeScript, with deep expertise in React the Next.js ecosystem.
- Hands-on experience with Cloudflare’s Edge platform and GCP’s cloud-native services, specifically for high-traffic SaaS products.
- Advanced proficiency in API design (GraphQL, WebSockets, or SSE) with a focus on real-time data flows and concurrent collaboration.
- Concrete, shippable examples of building with AI, such as streaming token responses, vector database integration, or custom LLM tooling.
- Active AI fluency is required. Candidates must have shipped AI-driven features or built internal tools using AI. Experience limited to chat-based tools or personal productivity usage is not sufficient.
- A "Systems Thinking" mindset that prioritizes global performance, security, and long-term maintainability over tactical patches.
- Comfort operating in a high-autonomy environment where you are responsible for your own QA and delivery without a safety net.
- Engineering pedigree from a high-growth SaaS product shop or developer-tooling company where the API is the core offering.
- Bonus Points: Deep familiarity with headless CMS ecosystems (Contentful, Sanity, Strapi), structured content schemas (Portable Text/JSON), collaborative primitives like CRDTs, or a visible history of open-source contributions to the modern web platform.
- Base Salary: $139-174K per year. Note: Final offers are based on individual technical depth, experience, and location.
- Quarterly/annual bonus plus equity package.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance.
- Results-oriented PTO, sick days, and paid holidays.
- Parental leave, family planning, and monthly wellness/learning stipends.
- Equal Opportunity & Fair Chance: Decisions are made regardless of protected status. Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, qualified applicants with arrest/conviction records will be considered.
- Work Authorization: U.S. work authorization without sponsorship is required. Eligibility is confirmed via E-Verify.
