Organizational Development Principal
GDIT’s Organizational Development (OD) team drives initiatives that support the alignment of leadership, culture, team performance and enterprise strategy. The OD team is a Center of Excellence in Human Resources aimed at driving initiatives that build GDIT’s organizational capabilities and build upon the foundation of our enterprise priorities. We are consultative thought partners, serving as trusted advisors to senior leadership and working across the enterprise to design and implement programs consistent with our organizational priorities and to impact our business results.
Our ideal candidate will have strong consulting and stakeholder management skills, a passion for improving individual and organizational performance, and experience in supporting and delivering initiatives in the areas of talent management, organizational development, change management or other related HR areas. Must have a highly collaborative work style, effective interpersonal skills to help build trusted relationships and display curiosity, self-awareness and willingness to learn and grow.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
As the Organizational Development Principal, you will play a key role in initiatives that drive company-wide success. You’ll lead assessments, analyze complex data sets, and create engaging development programs that empower leaders and teams. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional to use their expertise in change management and organizational behavior to support large-scale transformation projects.
Focus of role includes but not limited to:
- Leadership Succession: Project manage and support the GDIT leader talent reviews and succession management efforts to help scale current efforts going forward and support the development of an approach, timeline and stakeholder map for an enterprise-wide succession management effort at key leadership levels.
- Project Design and Facilitation Support: Leadership alignment session support, development of artifacts, focus groups and other engagement efforts to build organizational and leadership capability and insights.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Other OD Activities: overall OD support for leadership sessions, data analysis, OD frameworks and other team projects as identified. Leveraging AI within OD.
- Co-designs and co-facilitates customized leadership and alignment sessions, workshops and other sessions as determined in-person, hybrid and virtually.
- Assists with designing and implementing innovative programs that build organizational capabilities aligned with strategic imperatives.
- Assists with conducting organizational assessments to uncover insights that drive strategic decision-making.
- Conducts in-depth analysis of various data sets to identify trends and provide summary reports and recommendations.
- Prepares and maintains detailed reports on the outcomes and impacts of development initiatives, providing insights to guide future strategies.
- Assists with organizational change initiatives to enhance efficiency and overall business effectiveness.
- Partners with OD team members, HR, leadership and other stakeholders to ensure programs align with business objectives and address the strategic needs of the organization.
- Supports other OD team members and contributes to other activities as needed.
- May serve as a task lead.
- Other HR or OD duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
- Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience in OD/HR space.
- Master's degree a plus.
- Experience in large, complex or matrixed organizations with employees geographically dispersed.
- Works independently under general supervision
- Understanding of organizational behavior, development theories and best practices.
- Experience and comfortable with using AI in data analysis, generation of ideas and workflow process improvements.
- Experience with analyzing large sets of data.
- Proficient in Microsoft EXCEL data analysis (i.e., pivot tables, v-lookup, some formulas) and other performance metrics.
- Proficient in PowerPoint in creating and designing executive level presentations and workshop materials.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders at all levels in the organization
- Experience in at least two of the following areas:
- succession planning or high potential identification
- change management initiatives
- leadership development experiences
- employee engagement initiatives
- learning and development
- human capital consulting
- Certification in 360s, or individual assessments (DiSC, MBTI) is a plus.
- Experience in presenting ideas, facilitating workshops, presenting approaches and processes to various leadership levels.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders at all levels in the organization.
- Strong organization skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills: active listening, executive presence, rapport-building, trust building, organizational savvy.
- Business acumen and insight to best serve internal clients.
- Sense of urgency and initiative and ability to prioritize.
- Understanding of enterprise software, particularly HRIS and other Talent Management technologies.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint.
- Location: 3 days in office weekly/hybrid schedule
- Must be willing to travel to GDIT offices in the Washington, DC area; may require travel to other GDIT offices out-of-state (rarely)
