What You Will Do:
At Independent Software, as a Senior Information Systems Security Officer, you will provide senior-level cybersecurity and information assurance support for classified systems supporting IC and DoD missions. You will maintain and strengthen system security posture through security operations, risk and vulnerability assessments, configuration management, security documentation, and system authorization activities.
In this role, you will work closely with technical teams and stakeholders to ensure systems remain compliant with applicable security requirements while identifying vulnerabilities and implementing improvements that strengthen system resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the security posture of classified IC/DoD information systems
- Develop, maintain, and manage a high volume of System Security Plans (SSPs)
- Conduct vulnerability and risk assessments and support mitigation activities
- Support RMF and system authorization processes
- Manage security configurations and assess the security impact of system changes
- Ensure compliance with applicable security policies, frameworks, standards, and procedures
- Utilize customer security tools and processes to support system security and compliance
- Work with technical teams to identify vulnerabilities and strengthen system security
- Support security activities involving servers, IA technologies, networking protocols, and network services
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 10+ years of hands-on ISSO/information security experience supporting IC or DoD environments
- Strong experience developing and maintaining SSPs
- Strong knowledge of RMF, security authorization, vulnerability assessment, and risk management
- Knowledge of customer security tools, policies, frameworks, and system authorization processes
- Working knowledge of servers, Information Assurance technologies, networking protocols, and network services
- Experience with customer security tools and environments such as LatteArt, Biscotti, Xacata, and STE/STN
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with technical stakeholders
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline preferred
- 12+ years of relevant experience strongly preferred
- 10+ years of hands-on ISSO/information security experience supporting IC or DoD environments required
Education and Experience:
Candidates must meet one of the following:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security, or a related discipline plus 12 or more years of relevant experience
- An additional four (4) years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree on a case-by-case basis
- Must have 10+ years of direct experience as an ISSO or a combination of ISSO and other security-related roles supporting IC or DoD programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity
Certifications:
- Must meet DoD 8140.03 IAM Level II or higher certification requirements, such as CASP+ or CISSP
Clearance Requirement:
- Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
