About the Role
Responsible for independently managing a portfolio of complex business clients by structuring sophisticated credit solutions and delivering comprehensive banking services. Serves as a senior advisor and mentor within the business banking team, contributing to credit decisions, participating in loan committees, and helping to develop junior bankers. Plays an active role in community engagement and represents the bank in strategic business development efforts.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Oversees a portfolio of high-value, complex business clients by delivering customized financial solutions, proactively identifying needs, and serving as a trusted advisor.
- Independently reviews and analyzes financial statements, assess risk, and recommend appropriate credit structures. Actively contributes to the loan approval process, including presenting at loan committee meetings.
- Provides guidance and mentorship to Business Bankers by sharing expertise, reviewing credit work, and supporting their professional development.
- Drives business growth through targeted prospecting, referral development, and enhanced visibility in the community and business networks.
- Serves as a primary point of contact for escalated client needs, ensuring timely and effective resolution while maintaining strong, long-term client relationships.
Skills and Qualifications
- Advanced ability to interpret complex financial statements and structure sophisticated credit solutions that align with both client needs and risk management standards.
- Exceptional relationship-building skills with the ability to advise high-value clients, foster loyalty, and act as a key financial partner in their business growth.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and support the development of junior bankers, sharing knowledge and fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Strong judgment and communication skills to contribute to loan committee discussions, influence credit decisions, and provide thoughtful feedback on strategic matters.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required; an advanced degree or formal credit training is preferred.
- 5–7 years of progressive experience in commercial banking, credit analysis, or business lending is preferred.
- Proven ability to independently manage complex credit relationships and actively contribute to credit decision-making processes is preferred.
- Experience mentoring or leading banking professionals, with a demonstrated capacity to contribute strategically to team or departmental initiatives is preferred.
