Description
Your day to day will include but not limited to:
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
- Install, configure, evaluate and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.
- Develop, write, and de-bug control logic for machine control, make design modifications and improvements to complex electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment.
- Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
- Carefully and thoroughly document all control logic work. Keep existing documentation current and accessible to other team members. Ensure that copies of software are up-to- date and available to the rest of the Electrical Team Members and that sufficient back-up copies are maintained in a safe location.
- Prepare reports and provide feedback to management as required improving operations and machining reliability. Maintain and demonstrate a safety-first mentality.
- Observe and follow all plant and department safety rules, work rules, procedures, and EHS policies.
- Develop and maintain an elevated level of knowledge of wire and cable equipment and processes.
- Provide electrical assistance when needed.
- Provide engineering support and direction to the maintenance department for maintaining electrical and electronic equipment in a manner which optimizes operational performance and safety.
- Manage all assigned projects which include cost estimations, designs, specifications, approvals, procurement, installation, startup, cost control, safety and overall implementation to achieve Plant and organizational objectives.
- Develop and maintain control system and electrical drawings for the plant manufacturing systems.
- Analyze and interpret electrical schematics to the component level as required to make repairs and return equipment to operation.
- Utilize programming devices to analyze P.L.C. programs for failures or improvements.
- Maintain detailed records of critical process variables and ensure that programs are logical and as comprehensible as possible.
- Provide direction to maintenance associates in troubleshooting, repair, and program AC/DC drive systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair of plant manufacturing machinery in support of maintenance and production.
- Must be able to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and technical literature to aid in improving, troubleshooting and reliability of plant machinery and systems.
- Provide recommendations, ideas, and suggestions for upgrading of system controls for equipment and operations.
- Provide basic to advanced training to process engineers, maintenance associates and other personnel as needed.
- Consider energy efficiency in the purchase, upgrading and installation of equipment.
- Required to operate in an ISO environment which may have specific requirements related to quality, safety, environmental or energy management.
- Other tasks as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Advanced computer skills required including PLC programming. (Experience with Wonderware a plus).
- Ability to multi-task.
- Advanced knowledge of motor controls and drives (AC, DC and VFD), PLC and relay-based systems.
- Able to read and/or create PID drawings and install/implement control devices from engineered drawings.
- Because this position carries significant responsibility, extended work hours may be required to meet production demands and avoid downtime.
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders.
- Must be able to work in varying seasonal temperatures within an industrial manufacturing environment.
- 5 years minimum experience in system engineering role.
Desired qualifications:
- 10 years proven working experience in installing, configuring, troubleshooting, maintaining applications software and systems controls.
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Systems, Control System, or a related subject.
