Surgical Technologist

Beloit Health System is growing our Surgical Services team and has an immediate opening for a Surgical Technologist at Beloit Memorial Hospital. The Surgical Technologist is responsible for the scrub role during surgical procedures which involves setting up and taking down the appropriate equipment and instrumentation, anticipating surgeon needs, and assisting with cleanup and turnover activities.

In this role, the Surgical Technologist will:

• Apply specialty knowledge to patient care situations.
• Maintain knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to assigned procedures.
• Assume responsibility for being knowledgeable of all surgical procedures and equipment/instruments required.
• Set up and maintain instrument table in an organized, neat manner.
• Observe and anticipate surgeons' needs.
• Count needles, sponges, and instruments per policy using protective devices for disposal.
• Maintain patient safety at all times.
• Strictly adhere to infection control policies including blood borne pathogen precautions and aseptic techniques.
• Participate in room set up, pre-procedure preparation, draping, and room turnover independently.
• Properly handle specimens, labeling properly on field and communicating to circulating nurse identifying information.
• Perform unit specific duties according to established policies and procedures.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Successful completion of a Surgical Technician program, or equivalent experience and training.
• Certification preferred.
• Must have current CPR with 3 months of hire.
• Prior experience as a Surgical Technologist preferred.
• Takes call and responds to emergencies or unusual situations as required. May require working irregular hours.
