Lead Business Analyst, Plan Accounting Technology | PGIM 

What you will do 

We are seeking a Lead Business Analyst to serve as the primary liaison between Technology and the Separate Account and Trust Operations business. 

You will partner with business stakeholders, product owners, technology leads, engineers, quality engineers and delivery professionals to improve strategic accounting and trading platforms and reporting services. You will translate business needs into clear requirements and specifications, coordinate delivery across project teams, and help solve complex business problems while keeping work aligned with schedules and budgets. 

This position is performed in a hybrid manner with a mix of work performed from our office in Newark, New Jersey and remotely. 

You will work on a Scrum team within a SAFe Agile framework. Success in this role requires analytical and technical expertise, sound judgment, clear communication, collaboration, business insight, an inclusive mindset and a commitment to continuous learning. 

Here is what you can expect on a typical day 

In this role, you will turn complex investment accounting needs into clear requirements and coordinated technology delivery. 

• Elicit, challenge and translate business needs into clear requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, data mappings and specifications; partner with the Product Owner to maintain a prioritized, delivery-ready backlog.a 

• Partner with technology leads to shape technical designs, understand end-to-end system impacts and deliver robust solutions that improve business outcomes. 

• Analyze complex, interrelated technology, data and business-process issues; use SQL to investigate accounting, valuation and reference data, answer business questions and support decisions. 

• Partner with Quality Automation Engineers on test planning, execution and defect resolution across system, integration, regression and user acceptance testing. 

• Participate in SAFe Agile ceremonies - PI Planning, backlog replenishment, standups, sprint reviews and retrospectives - and contribute to release planning. 

• Support conversion and upgrade projects, new data feed onboarding and multi-platform integration efforts. 

• Use enterprise-approved AI tools, including Microsoft Copilot, Atlassian Rovo and Claude Code, to accelerate requirements analysis, documentation, data investigation, test preparation and delivery while applying sound judgment, validation and responsible-use practices. 

• Set and manage delivery dates that meet client requirements, partnering with clients, business stakeholders and technology teams throughout the project lifecycle. 

• Look for opportunities to improve our analysis practices, documentation standards and tooling - and to coach others as you do. 

What you will bring 

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience). 

• 7+ years of business or systems analysis experience delivering technology change, ideally in financial services, with an understanding of financial concepts, metrics and business outcomes. 

• Experience eliciting and documenting clear business and functional requirements from business artifacts, systems documentation and stakeholder interviews. 

• SQL and relational database knowledge, with hands-on experience querying and reconciling data. 

• Experience with Agile development practices and supporting tools such as JIRA and Confluence. 

• Apply analytical thinking, critical judgment and structured problem-solving to identify root causes, evaluate alternatives and turn analysis into practical recommendations and sound decisions. 

• Communicate complex business and technology concepts clearly while building constructive relationships and serving as an effective liaison across business and technology teams. 

• Work independently, manage competing priorities and use sound judgment to turn unfamiliar challenges into practical recommendations and decisions. 

What will set you apart 

• Business or systems analysis experience in investment management or financial services, with knowledge of valuation, fee calculation, trading and reporting for separate accounts, mutual funds or related investment vehicles. 

• Experience delivering conversion, upgrade, data-feed and multi-platform integration initiatives in a SAFe Agile environment, with familiarity with Test-Driven Development and CI/CD practices. 

• Understanding of retirement DB and DC plans, fixed income products and funds of funds. 

• Familiarity with the Microsoft data and automation ecosystem, including Power BI, Power Automate, Power Platform and Microsoft Fabric; experience using these tools to deliver reporting, workflow automation, data integration or decision-support solutions is a strong differentiator.
