Your role and responsibilities
We are looking for an Application Service Manager to support the full lifecycle of business applications, from onboarding and transition to ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement. The role leads application transitions and handovers from projects, M&A activities, and external providers into operational support, ensuring that all required processes, documentation, access, monitoring, and support models are in place. The Application Service Manager coordinates IT, business, and vendor teams to ensure stable and effective application operations. The role also proactively manages risks, dependencies, service performance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

You will be mainly accountable for:
Own the end-to-end lifecycle and service management of business applications, ensuring their stability, availability, performance, security, and overall service quality. Act as the accountable owner for the application service from introduction and ongoing operations through to
transformation or retirement, ensuring effective service transition and operational readiness.Lead and take ownership of application-related projects and initiatives, including migrations,
system integrations, infrastructure changes, upgrades, technology transitions, and
decommissioning. Ensure effective planning, coordination of activities, management of timelines and dependencies, and successful delivery in collaboration with relevant technical and business teams.Drive M&A-related application integration and transition activities, including application
discovery and assessment, migration, consolidation, handover, and retirement. Coordinate
activities across multiple teams and ensure applications and services are successfully integrated into the target environment with minimal business disruption.Coordinate complex cross-functional activities across IT, business, infrastructure, security,
architecture, application support teams, and external vendors, proactively managing risks,
dependencies, issues, escalations, and potential service impacts to ensure effective and timely resolution. Act as a key interface between business and technology, translating business needs into actionable application and service requirements, aligning priorities, managing expectations, and ensuring effective communication across all parties.Drive continuous improvement and application optimization, identifying opportunities to
improve service quality, operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and user experience. Initiate and coordinate improvement activities and ensure that agreed actions translate into measurable service improvements.Manage vendors and application-related financials, including vendor performance, service
delivery commitments, contracts, budgets, costs, purchase orders, and software licensing.
Ensure effective commercial management and alignment of vendor services with business and technology requirements.Ensure effective governance, security, risk management, and operational compliance across the application landscape, working closely with security, risk, architecture, infrastructure, and
business functions. Ensure that applications meet required standards, controls, and policies throughout their lifecycle.Provide clear service reporting and management visibility, covering application health, service performance, risks, ongoing projects and initiatives, costs, major issues, and improvement
activities. Use relevant data and insights to support decision-making and proactively highlight areas requiring management attention.
Qualifications for the role
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience in Service Management and application management, including managing application lifecycles and ensuring effective support, maintenance, availability, performance, and service quality.
Experience in leading and delivering IT projects and initiatives, particularly application migrations, system integrations, infrastructure changes, upgrades, technology transitions, or decommissioning.
Experience working in complex, cross-functional environments, coordinating activities across business, IT, infrastructure, security, architecture, application support teams, and external vendors.
Strong stakeholder and vendor management skills, with the ability to manage expectations, align priorities, resolve issues and escalations, and maintain effective relationships across business and technology teams.
Good understanding of project delivery methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall, with the ability to operate effectively across both project and operational environments.
Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and related technologies, with basic knowledge of Azure and SharePoint administration.
Strong ownership and delivery mindset, with the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and dependencies, and deliver results effectively under time pressure.
Fluent English, both written and spoken.
Knowledge of Azure DevOps and Azure Portal is a plus.
