Lead the auditing and monitoring of the company's import entries and support post-entry compliance activities. This role supports execution of a structured, risk-based entry audit process, reviews broker-filed entries for accuracy against source documents and internal records and brings protest filing and CBP inquiry response in-house. Key Responsibilities:
Import Entry Audit & Monitoring - approximately 45%
- Execute a risk-based program for import entries testing classification, valuation, origin, quantity, duty, fees, and applicable trade program treatment and recommend improvements based on findings. (Section 232, 301, USMCA).
- Monitor broker-filed entries for accuracy against source documents and internal data of record; identify errors before liquidation where possible.
- Track findings, root causes, and corrective actions; maintain an audit log and reasonable care documentation.
- Apply established audit cadence, sampling methodology, and materiality thresholds, and recommend updates as needed by reporting results and trends to the Director.
- Monitor liquidation activity and flag entries requiring corrective action within statutory windows.
Post-Entry Oversight - approximately 30%
- Prepare and file protests under 19 U.S.C. 1514, petitions, and requests for further review.
- Draft and manage responses to CF-28 Requests for Information and CF-29 Notices of Action; manage rate advance disputes and supporting documentation.
- Manage Post Summary Corrections and coordinate entry-level corrections with the broker.
- Support the reconciliation program and duty recovery, refund, and drawback opportunities identified through audit.
- Support prior disclosure preparation and CBP audit and Focused Assessment readiness.
ACE Data & Reporting - approximately 20%
- Build and maintain ACE Portal reports used to monitor entry accuracy, duty spend, tariff program exposure, liquidation status, and broker performance.
- Reconcile ACE data against internal records to surface discrepancies and audit targets.
- Deliver a recurring metrics package on entry accuracy, post-entry activity, and recovery to the Director and business leadership.
- Administer ACE Portal access and report design for the trade compliance team.
Governance - approximately 5%
- Maintain standard operating procedures for audit, protest, and CBP inquiry workflows.
What You'll Bring to Our Team
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five or more years of U.S. import compliance experience, with demonstrated focus on entry audit, post-entry, or entry review.
- Hands-on experience responding to CF-28 and CF-29 notices and filing protests under 19 U.S.C. 1514.
- Demonstrated proficiency with ACE and ACE Portal report design, extraction, and analysis.
- Strong understanding of entry structure, valuation, classification, and duty and fee computation sufficient to audit broker-filed entries.
- Strong data skills; Excel required, Power BI or Power Query preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Licensed Customs Broker.
- Working knowledge of Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements and message sets — nice to have, not required.
- Experience designing or running a structured entry audit or self-testing program.
- Reconciliation, Foreign Trade Zone, or duty drawback exposure.
- Home appliance or regulated consumer product experience.
