Working in a fast paced and complex healthcare environment the professional phlebotomist works directly with patients and colleagues to collect specimens via venipuncture and provide patient education for the self-collection of other lab orderables, namely urine and stool.

- Works efficiently to minimize patient wait times
- Attendance & punctuality – is prompt for work and seeks support and guidance if needed regarding absenteeism
This is a part time .50 FTE position. The location is South Lake Union.
Responsibilities
- Perform phlebotomy on patients, donors, research participants and employees of all ages.
- Prepare patient and collection equipment according to established specimen collection policies and procedures.
- In collaboration with the patient, verify the patients name and DOB prior to the procedure and after labeling the collected specimens, before the patient leaves the blood draw area.
- Instruct patients on proper collection of urine and stool specimens.
- Develop professional working relationships with colleagues via direct and timely communication.
- Records variances of standard policies and procedures in Patient Safety Net accurately and where required
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- WA State MA/Phlebotomy Certification
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers
- Professional verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and adjust to changing workloads.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology
Preferred:
- 6 months working in a fast-paced customer service environment, 6 months phlebotomy experience preferred
- Previous experience working in an outpatient clinic.
- Preferred EPIC/Cadence, answering phones/handling phone inquiries from patients and staff
The hourly pay range for this position is from $22.22 to $31.63 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.
