Petzl is a French, family-owned company founded in 1975 near Grenoble, France. It designs and manufactures technical gear and lighting for vertical activities - climbing, mountaineering, work at height, rescue - and is the largest European manufacturer of personal protective equipment for this sector.

The group remains privately held, employs more than 500 people worldwide, and distributes in more than fifty countries. In Malaysia, Petzl Manufacturing Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., based in Rawang, Selangor since 2009, is the group's textile production unit, manufacturing sewn safety components such as harnesses, webbing and lanyards, with over 200 employees.

PRESENTATION OF THE ROLE

Principal mission :

Lead the team in charge of the production equipment performance and maintenance.

Coordinate the equipment updates related to new production projects.

Mission I – Maintenance team leadership

• Lead the daily operations of the maintenance team and supervise three maintenance technicians
• Act as back-up to the Industrial & Maintenance Manager on the maintenance tracking and securing system

Mission II – Equipment maintenance

• Operate and troubleshoot the mechanical, electrical and automation maintenance of production equipment
• Plan and carry out the preventive maintenance of production equipment to minimise downtime
• Manage the maintenance spare-parts stock and ensure critical parts availability

Mission III – New equipment and line changes

• Coordinate the equipment updates related to new production projects
• Organise the installation of new equipment and machine-layout modifications
• Ensure new or modified equipment is qualified and ready for production hand-over

Mission IV – Continuous improvement

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of production efficiency and equipment reliability
• Apply lean-manufacturing principles to reduce breakdowns, waste and intervention time
• Propose technical and innovative solutions to recurring maintenance issues

Mission V – Administration and reporting

• Comply with the department administrative deliverables and maintenance documentation
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality and housekeeping standards on the shop floor

THE PROFILE

Knowledge & Skills

• Around 5 to 10 years of experience in mechanical, electrical and automation maintenance, ideally on sewing-machine technology or transferable high-precision equipment such as semiconductor machines
• Solid hands-on skills across mechanics, electrics and standard automation controllers (Program Logic Controller)
• Experience in preventive and corrective maintenance and in spare-parts management
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous-improvement methods
• Experience managing or supervising a small technical team
• Working proficiency in English
