Job Description

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Associate Professor or Professor, Counselor Education, College of Education [R0153497].

ROLE of the POSITION

This is a tenure track faculty position. Responsibilities involve teaching graduate level (i.e., master’s, doctoral) courses, conducting research in a focused scholarship agenda, advising master’s and doctoral level students, helping maintain program accreditation standards and contributing to the program.

 

The university has Tier I status which requires faculty to maintain a record of professional activities, including ongoing research activity, publications, grant work, contributions to professional associations and program development. Candidates will be expected to support and contribute to the strategic goals of the college/university. 

 

The Counselor Education program within the Department of Counselor Education, School Psychology, and Human Services values a broad array of experiences and perspectives and is committed to continually supporting, promoting and building an inclusive and culturally rich learning environment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications for Associate Professor Rank (Tenure-Track): This position requires an earned doctorate from a CACREP-accredited program in counselor education and supervision from an accredited college or university as recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and applicants must be licensed or license eligible as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor or School Counselors in the State of Nevada. Applicants should have demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, scholarly activity including securing external funding, and established leadership in professional counseling organizations. Individuals should have a robust research agenda with significant publications in counseling and related journals and a history of working with and mentoring students in research, to include dissertation committee service. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.

Minimum Qualifications for Associate/Professor Rank (Tenured): This position requires an earned doctorate from a CACREP-accredited program in counselor education and supervision from an accredited college or university as recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and applicants must be licensed or license eligible as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor or School Counselors in the State of Nevada. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

Preferred Qualifications for Associate Professor and Professor ranks: 

• Experience in leadership at the programmatic and departmental levels as well as involvement in counseling/counselor education at the regional and/or national level.
• Evidence or strong record of scholarship, strong publication record, securing or applying for external funding for research/program development; university collaborative efforts involving public schools, community agencies, and/or postsecondary institutions;
• Full-time teaching experience; content knowledge/expertise in one or more of the CACREP-core and specialty areas within our programs
• Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds;
• Supervisory credential and or state endorsement as a clinical supervisor
