The Production Support Work Study position provides students with hands-on experience in live esports broadcast production. Working onsite and reporting directly to the Esports Director, this role will support ArtU Esports streams while learning key production areas including producing, game observation, stream operation, and broadcast setup. The student will gain experience using industry standard broadcast tools, collaborating with broadcast talent, and developing the technical and organizational skills used in live esports production. 

Responsibilities:

• Develop and present short form content for ArtU Esports social media outside of scheduled broadcasts.
• Assist with player interviews, team features, game discussions, event promotions, and other personality driven content.
• Collaborate with Production Support and the Video Editor / Photographer to brainstorm and produce recurring social media content.
• Practice adapting presentation styles between live broadcasts, interviews, short form videos, and other digital content.
• Assist with hosting and casting ArtU Esports matches, tournaments, events, and other broadcast content.
• Develop experience with play by play commentary, color commentary, hosting, interviewing, and other on camera roles.
• Prepare for broadcasts by reviewing participating teams, players, matchups, and relevant game information.
• Work with Production Support to practice timing, transitions, introductions, outros, and other elements of a live broadcast.
• Collaborate with the Coach and other program staff to develop game knowledge and better understand competitive gameplay.
• Practice communicating gameplay and match developments in a way that is engaging and accessible to viewers.
• Assist with player interviews, event coverage, and other esports related video content as needed.
• Participate in rehearsals and production meetings to prepare for upcoming broadcasts.
• Review previous broadcasts and incorporate feedback to develop presentation and casting skills.
• Develop hands on experience in esports broadcasting, live commentary, hosting, and on camera presentation.
  

Qualifications:

• Interest in esports broadcasting, casting, hosting, journalism, communications, or content creation.
• Comfortable speaking in front of an audience, camera, or microphone.
• Strong verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Interest in developing knowledge of competitive games and esports.
• Able to communicate clearly and maintain composure during live broadcasts.
• Comfortable collaborating with Production Support, other student roles, and program staff.
• Willingness to research teams, players, games, and competitions before broadcasts.
• Receptive to instruction, feedback, and continued learning.
• Previous casting, hosting, streaming, or on camera experience is helpful, but not required.
• Ability to attend some evening or weekend broadcasts and events as needed.
• Interest in games and esports.

Pay Rate : 

$19.61 per hour

Length of Employment: The student’s starting term at the Academy of Art University through graduation.
