What You’ll Do:
As the lead member of the front-of-house service team, the Maître D’ manages the dining room staff, greets customers and ensures the highest possible standards of service. Further responsibilities include setting the ambience and atmosphere of the restaurant. The Maître D’ creates a positive work environment for our employees through friendly, caring and professional communication, making sure to pass down a culture of excellence.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Guest Relations and Seating
- Welcoming guests as they arrive and setting a friendly tone.
- Managing reservations and organizing the seating flow.
- Remembering regular guests, their names, and their special preferences.
- Handling VIP requests and special seating needs.
Staff Supervision
- Overseeing and directing hosts, waiters, and back waiters.
- Training team members on customer service standards.
- Communicating daily specials and menu updates to the service staff.
Dining Room Operations
- Maintaining the ambiance of the room, including lighting, music, and temperature.
- Acting as a link between the dining room and the kitchen.
- Solving guest complaints or problems quickly and politely.
Requirements
What we are looking for:
- 2 years previous and relevant experience in a high-end, high-volume restaurant
- Possess an authentic sense of hospitality
- Ability to multi-task and work efficiently under pressure
- Strong communication skills, both with guests and teammates
- Proficient in Open Table and restaurant POS Systems
- A positive, upbeat attitude with a strong work ethic
- Flexible availability to work days, nights, weekends – we’re looking for team players who can adapt to the flow of the restaurant
- A valid Food Handler Card and Alcohol Awareness Training Certificate (must have upon hire)
- Ability to work standing for long periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and manage a physically demanding role
- Must be 18 years or older
