What You Will Do

Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run January- July/August (including the Spring semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity).​

As a Project Engineering Co-op at Collins Aerospace within the Supplier Designed Equipment (SDE) Engineering organization, you can expect to gain experience supporting a variety of Electro-Mechanical Interface Devices (EMIDS), including Electro-Hydraulic Servo-Valves (EHSVs), Linear Variable Differential Transformers (LVDTs), solenoids, and other similar critical building blocks of modern engine control systems on large commercial, military and business aviation engines programs. The team focuses on leading engineering projects for the EMIDS on jet fuel controls, pumps, gearboxes and actuation systems product lines.  We are engaged at all levels with our internal and external customers during every stage of the aerospace product life cycle, spanning requirements definition, design, development, qualification, production, entry into service, and sustainment.  We are a highly collaborative team that interfaces with multiple engineering disciplines, as well as business-related functions. • Support project tasks of short to medium duration, while ensuring customer milestones are met within budget and schedule commitments
• Host cross-functional meetings, take action items, and drive project execution through action follow-up
• Engage with a cross-functional team on Engineering Change (EC) execution
• Work alongside experienced engineers to support major design milestones, including PDR, CDR, FDR and DVT requirements deliverables
• Work with experienced engineers to perform system and component requirements reviews and compliance assessments for complex engine control system components
• Support experienced project engineers with engine control system component investigations using root cause and corrective action process (RCCA)
• Execute development tasks aligned with Collins engineering standard work
• Interface with component suppliers and other members of the integrated product development team (chief engineers, systems engineers, program management, etc.)

What You Will Learn:

• Critical features and operation of EMIDs and turbine engine control systems
• Detailed knowledge on the design/development/sustainment phases of highly engineered aerospace products
• Root cause and corrective action process and techniques
• How to manage/execute project tasks in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications You Must Have

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience managing projects, working with projects, schedules, deliverables, and/or budgets
• Experience working on cross-functional teams and presenting information to internal and external stakeholders
• Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and/or Outlook) and/or Microsoft Project
• Strong engineering foundation, including the ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements, with knowledge of mechanics, materials, thermodynamics, electrical systems, controls, and product lifecycle concepts

• Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite.  Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
