RTX Classified Digital Services / Classified Workplace Services is seeking a hands-on Atlassian Data Center Platform Specialist to modernize and consolidate legacy service management platforms supporting classified and unclassified operations.

This role will help design, configure, deploy, and maintain next-generation service management capabilities using Jira Service Management (JSM), Jira, and Confluence, with integrations to Microsoft Power Platform, SharePoint, Splunk, and other enterprise tools. The specialist will work with a small agile platform engineering team to establish new environments, migrate legacy workflows, and develop repeatable best practices that support scalability, reliability, governance, and classified mission readiness.

This is a practitioner role requiring hands-on expertise with Atlassian Data Center capabilities, including JQL, ScriptRunner/CMJ, complex workflow configuration, platform governance, integrations, and system administration.

What You Will Do

  • Configure and maintain Atlassian Data Center environments, including Jira, JSM, and Confluence.
  • Perform system administration activities including upgrades, patching, reindexing, node maintenance, performance optimization, and database coordination.
  • Design and optimize JSM portals, request types, workflows, permissions, notifications, SLAs, automation, and queue strategies.
  • Translate ITIL/ITSM requirements into scalable Atlassian configurations supporting Incident, Problem, Change, Service Request, and Asset Management.
  • Implement and manage JSM Assets/CMDB capabilities for hardware, software, and enterprise assets.
  • Develop dashboards, Jira Product Discovery, and Advanced Roadmaps to provide actionable operational and service metrics.
  • Establish platform governance, standard configurations, naming conventions, permissions, and configuration management processes.
  • Evaluate and manage Atlassian Marketplace applications such as ScriptRunner, Refined, and Advanced Automations.
  • Develop and maintain integrations with external platforms using REST APIs and webhooks, including SharePoint, Splunk, IdP/SSO, collaboration, monitoring, and CI/CD tools.
  • Support legacy platform migrations and the deployment of new classified and unclassified environments.
  • Conduct system hygiene and configuration audits to improve platform performance, stability, security, and maintainability.
  • Provide Tier 2/3 administration and troubleshooting support for complex platform issues.
  • Develop technical documentation, configuration guides, operational runbooks, policies, templates, and Confluence knowledge articles.
  • Develop and deliver training and knowledge-transfer materials for service desk agents, stakeholders, and end users.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous service improvement through user feedback, operational metrics, and platform telemetry.
  • Partner with architecture and engineering teams to ensure deployment readiness and long-term platform scalability.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and 5+ years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree and 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience administering, configuring, and supporting Atlassian Data Center environments, including Jira, JSM, and Confluence.
  • Experience with REST APIs, SQL, and scripting using Groovy, ScriptRunner, Python, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with Linux server environments and LDAP/SSO configuration.
  • Experience supporting large-scale IT environments.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance required prior to start date.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • ITIL v3 or v4 certification.
  • Strong knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) principles and ITIL frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience configuring JSM Assets/CMDB, automations, SLAs, customer portals, and workflows.
  • Atlassian certifications such as ACP-120 Jira Administration for Data Center, ACP-420 JSM Health Check, or Atlassian Certified System Administrator.
  • Experience with Atlassian Marketplace applications, including ScriptRunner, Refined, and Advanced Automations.
  • Experience integrating Atlassian platforms with SharePoint, Splunk, Microsoft Power Platform, IdP/SSO, Slack/Teams, monitoring tools, CI/CD pipelines, or ERP/CRM systems.
  • Experience migrating legacy service management platforms to Atlassian.
  • Experience working in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or other highly regulated environments.
  • Experience supporting classified environments and cross-domain operations.
  • Strong ability to translate business and ITSM requirements into scalable, user-focused technical solutions.
