Job Description
The Credit Manager - Origination serves as a credit specialist supporting the Sales and Relationship Management teams and acts as the primary interface with the Credit Function for approval and sanctioning processes. The role is responsible for structuring practical and commercially viable credit solutions that maximize the Bank's risk-adjusted returns while maintaining an acceptable level of risk in accordance with the Bank's Credit Framework.Manage the credit risks associated with the portfolio .
Prepare and originate new credit applications, ensuring high-quality and timely submissions to sanctioning teams and relevant credit committees.
Conduct annual credit reviews of portfolio clients and ensure credit applications are successfully approved on schedule.
- Lead the presentation and defend credit applications at local, regional, and Board Credit Committees .
Ensure timely identification of accounts with early warning signals and recommend quality credit solutions for continued management within the portfolio or for downgrade.
Efficiently and satisfactory provide quality query resolutions to the Commercial Banking and Credit functions.
Maintain a thorough understanding of the Botswana business environment, industry trends, and the Bank's credit systems and processes.
Monitor credit conditions, risk triggers and covenants and ensure quality submissions to Credit, highlighting breaches and mitigating factors where necessary.
Ensure compliance with all internal and regulatory credit policies. Proper maintenance of credit files and ensure audit readiness at any time.
The key attributes and core competencies of the incumbent include the following:
- Ability to analyse company financial statements and, identify and quantify financial and business risks.
- An interest in and understanding of financial instruments and trends in the global lending markets, with a view of providing input into the bank.
- General knowledge of practical economics relating to business, industry and the Botswana macro-economic environment.
- A good understanding of credit ratings, portfolio theory and credit pricing.
- Leadership Skills with and ability to coach and mentor.
Qualifications and Experience required
- Business/Accounting/Finance Degree. CA, MBA or CFA will be added advantage.
- At least three (3) years’ experience in same field
