Description
Make a difference in your community while helping young people and families discover the environment around them! This position supports youth and family programs at The WaterShed by leading engaging environmental education lessons, exhibit hall experiences, and tours for visitors of all ages.
You’ll help create fun, welcoming, and educational experiences for our community while continuing to strengthen how we communicate and deliver programs. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, teaching, and connecting others to environmental topics.
Schedule: Candidates must be available to work at least one weekday (Monday - Friday) for a 6 - 8-hour shift. Works under general supervision. This position is designated as At-Will.
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Applicants must be able to pass:
Provides excellent customer service while interacting with the public in the exhibit hall and outdoor areas.
Supports education coordinators with a variety of tasks, including room set up and clean up, inventorying and restocking of supplies and compiling educational materials.

Ability to:; engage and work with the public, including working with youth and families from a variety of backgrounds; apply customer service techniques; utilize basic computer skills; exercise tact, patience, diplomacy, cultural sensitivity and courtesy when dealing with people; troubleshoot and problem-solve; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; and perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
First Aid and CPR Certification.
Prior experience working with the general public or children.The physical effort characteristics and working environment described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds. Also, the employee is occasionally pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. The noise level is occasionally moderate. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, climb and balance. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.Additional physical efforts include: ability to walk/hike up to three miles in a day.

The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, in wet and humid conditions, areas of dust, odors, mist and gases or other airborne matter. walk on gravel paths, near Boise River, canal and ponds possible encounters with wildlife and insects.

- Must be an undergraduate student. This internship is a valuable opportunity for a wide variety of majors, including environmental science, education (elementary or secondary) or those interested in increasing their science communication skills.
