Job Description Summary
Responsible for assisting the head coach with coordinating activities, game management and production of cheer activities at various athletic and University events.* This position is not eligible for sponsorship of non-immigrant or immigrant visa status through Wake Forest University. Job Description
Essential Functions:
- Assists the head coach with preparation of the cheer team to perform at all football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball and selected other games. Includes coordinating the cheer team’s role in time-outs, half-time and pre-game, game management and collaboration with the band.
- Assists the head coach with scheduling, organizing and conducting cheer team tryouts, and the selection of the cheer team squads.
- Secures practice locations, schedules and supervises daily practice sessions, and assists in choreographing dances.
- Serves as contact person for cheerleaders should the head coach not be available.
- Assists the head coach with team travel logistics. Serves as chaperone during travel.
- Assists with public relations activities through involvement in community, University, and student organizations. Provides updates for the program website as needed.
- Follow all University, ACC, and NCAA rules and regulations.
- Ability to travel and work weekends and evening hours.
- Assists with locating, ushering, and supervising our demon deacon mascot at games and appearances.
- Occasionally assists spirit director with booking mascot-related events and activities.
- Is a point of contact for Deacon Mascots
Other Functions:
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 1-3 years of experience either coaching or participating in a cheer team
- Able to perform full range of activities related to cheering
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- CPR/AED/First Aid Certified
- Detail-oriented for accuracy of data and information
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Strong focus on customer service.
