The Opportunity
RETTEW is seeking a motivated Accounting Intern (Accounting Assistant) to join our Financial Services team in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, for Summer 2027.
This full-time internship offers hands-on experience with the accounting, reporting, compliance, and analysis activities that support a multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm. You will work directly with experienced Financial Services professionals while building practical skills beyond the classroom.
The ideal candidate is a junior or senior accounting major who plans to pursue CPA licensure and wants meaningful exposure to corporate accounting processes, audit and tax support, budgeting, reporting, and process improvement.

What You'll Do
As an Accounting Intern, you will:
• Support recurring accounting, reporting, compliance, and financial-analysis activities.
• Assist with annual accounting engagements, audit support, tax-return preparation, and the annual budgeting process.
• Help maintain supporting schedules, records, reconciliations, and other financial documentation.
• Assist with lease-accounting activities and recurring monthly analyses.
• Develop reports and organize financial information using Deltek Vantagepoint and Microsoft applications.
• Document Financial Services processes and identify opportunities to improve consistency and efficiency.
• Explore responsible uses of AI and automation to support Financial Services workflows.
• Complete assigned work accurately, communicate questions, accept feedback, and meet established deadlines.
What We're Looking For
Required
• Current junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• Intent to pursue CPA licensure after graduation.
• Foundational knowledge of accounting, taxation, and business concepts through completed coursework.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organization, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Honest and open communication, accountability, and willingness to ask questions.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with the Financial Services team.
• Ability to accept feedback, adapt to changing priorities, and follow work through to completion.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new financial systems.
• Availability to work 40 hours per week during Summer 2027 and follow RETTEW’s standard hybrid schedule in Lancaster.
Preferred
• Coursework in intermediate accounting, taxation, auditing, information systems, or data analytics.
• Experience using Microsoft Excel for calculations, data organization, or analysis.
• Interest in financial reporting, process improvement, automation, or AI-enabled efficiencies.
• Prior internship, campus organization, work, or project experience involving accounting or business operations.

Work Environment
Workplace Designation: Hybrid
Location: Lancaster, PA
Schedule: 40 hours per week during Summer 2027
Compensation: $22–$24 per hour
This position follows RETTEW’s standard hybrid schedule, with three days in the Lancaster office and two remote-work days each week. The intern will work under the direct supervision of RETTEW’s Controller and collaborate with other Financial Services team members.
