The Industrial Engineer SME II serves as a strategic Industrial Engineering leader responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and optimizing integrated manufacturing and service delivery systems that drive performance, reliability, maintainability, schedule adherence, scalability, and cost effectiveness. This role supports regional and global operations, including new manufacturing site development, capacity expansion, factory design, and complex operational transformation initiatives. The successful candidate will leverage advanced industrial engineering methodologies, simulation tools, and data-driven decision making to support business growth and continuous improvement.

How will you make an impact?

As an Industrial Engineering Subject Matter Expert, you will influence strategic manufacturing decisions by developing innovative solutions that improve productivity, reduce costs, optimize facility utilization, and support operational excellence. You will play a critical role in designing and launching new manufacturing operations, leading large-scale industrial engineering projects, and utilizing advanced simulation and analytical tools, including FlexSim, to model, validate, and optimize manufacturing systems.

What will you do?

  • Lead and implement complex industrial engineering projects across site, regional, and global operations.
  • Drive waste elimination and operational excellence through application of Industrial Engineering principles and Lean methodologies.
  • Develop and execute advanced manufacturing models utilizing FlexSim and other simulation tools to evaluate production flows, capacity requirements, labor utilization, material movement, and facility layouts.
  • Lead greenfield and brownfield manufacturing site development projects, including facility planning, line design, equipment layout, staffing models, infrastructure requirements, and operational readiness activities.
  • Critically evaluate workforce utilization, facility layouts, production costs, process flow analysis, and end-to-end value streams to determine optimal operational performance.
  • Conduct complex process simulations, operations research studies, and business case analyses to support strategic decision-making.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for Industrial Engineering systems, tools, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives involving Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Facilities, Quality, and Program Management teams.
  • Prepare complex manufacturing quotations and operational models for new business opportunities, including:
    • End-to-end line design
    • Direct labor and value-add labor planning
    • Equipment and automation sizing
    • Capital investment requirements
    • Facility and infrastructure expansion needs
  • Define and standardize SAP and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) configurations supporting operational excellence.
  • Support business unit and site leadership by evaluating process reliability, profitability, and assumptions related to new programs and manufacturing strategies.
  • Lead Industrial Engineering support for New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives.
  • Develop and communicate key Industrial Engineering metrics to regional and global stakeholders.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Industrial Engineers and cross-functional team members.
  • Create and implement new Industrial Engineering best practices and share learnings across regional and global teams.
  • Support Lean transformation initiatives through strong process discipline, data integrity, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, security requirements, and safety standards.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

How will you get here?

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related engineering discipline required.
  • Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration (MBA), or related field preferred.
  • Lean Master Certification, Six Sigma Certification, or equivalent continuous improvement certification preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 12 years of professional experience, including at least 7 years of Industrial Engineering or closely related manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale manufacturing optimization and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in new manufacturing site development, factory launches, facility expansions, capacity planning, and production system design.
  • Significant experience utilizing FlexSim software for manufacturing simulation, capacity analysis, production flow optimization, and network modeling preferred.
  • Experience supporting global manufacturing operations and cross-functional projects in a complex industrial environment.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.

  • Expert-level proficiency with FlexSim simulation software and the use of digital models to optimize manufacturing performance and support investment decisions.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing site development, production system design, facility planning, and manufacturing startup execution.
  • Knowledge of global manufacturing strategies and operational best practices.
  • Data science, statistical analysis, and advanced analytics skills preferred.
  • Strong financial acumen, including:
    • P&L analysis
    • Capital planning
    • Cost modeling
    • Return on investment analysis
    • Operational budgeting
  • Proven track record of successful change management and continuous improvement implementation.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards within manufacturing environments.
  • Understanding of quality systems and manufacturing process controls.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio, AutoCAD, SAP, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and related engineering tools.

This position offers the opportunity to influence strategic manufacturing initiatives, build and optimize world-class production systems, and contribute to the successful launch and expansion of manufacturing operations globally.

The pay range for this role is $126,100 - $227,000. Job-related, non-discriminatory factors used to determine the actual offered rate include qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity. The anticipated close date of this job requisition is: September 30, 2026.

As part of the total rewards package, this position is eligible for a short-term incentive based on performance. In addition, Jabil offers benefits to enhance your health, wealth, and resilient self.
