SQL Database Administrator

Iron Mountain is seeking an analytical Senior Database Administrator to join our IT team.

In this role, you will play a key part in designing, tuning, and maintaining our core SQL Server environments to ensure high availability and seamless data management across our systems. Working primarily within a robust Microsoft shop, your technical expertise with Windows Server, T-SQL, and database integration tools will directly support application development and keep our critical operational infrastructure performant and secure. Here, your database optimization efforts will help safeguard essential assets and ensure our digital solutions run smoothly for our clients and teams.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities) In this role, you will:

• Oversee database administration: Lead the design, installation, upgrade, capacity planning, and daily maintenance of SQL Server environments in a Windows Server ecosystem.
• Ensure optimal performance and availability: Conduct continuous monitoring, tuning, and T-SQL optimization while managing Always On technology and clustering solutions.
• Manage backup and disaster recovery: Implement backup/recovery procedures, utilize Rubrik backup systems, and execute recovery processes while adhering to change management policies.
• Support development and integration: Collaborate with developers to build stored procedures, triggers, and data extract facilities, including SSIS and SSRS implementations.
• Maintain security and system health: Execute environment refreshes, maintain system documentation, utilize basic PowerShell scripting for automation, and participate in a 24/7 rotational on-call schedule.

What You’ll Bring (Skills & Qualifications) The ideal candidate will have:

• 5 to 7 years of in-depth experience in the design, administration, programming, and support of SQL Server database systems.
• Strong knowledge of T-SQL, server-side development (triggers, stored procedures), Always On high-availability technology, clustering, disaster recovery, and SSIS/SSRS implementations.
• Direct experience working in a Microsoft-centric environment with Windows and Server Operating Systems.
• Proficiency with basic PowerShell scripting and familiarity with Rubrik backup systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline is desirable.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse stakeholders.
• Must satisfy background compliance obligations: U.S. Citizenship and the ability to successfully obtain a clearance, 3-year U.S. residency requirement, Selective Service registration (if applicable), and successful completion of credit (focused on federal debt/tax status) and criminal background verifications.

Reasonably expected salary range: $107,500.00 - $143,300.00

Please note that an employee's starting salary may vary based on a variety of factors. Where State, Municipal, Provincial, Territorial or other legal minimum wages exceed the federal minimum wage, employees are entitled to the higher rate.
