Project/Change Communication Specialist

Location: Rosebank, Johannesburg (3 days on-site)

Are you an experienced Project/Change Communication Specialist with a strong background in graphic design, visual communication, and change management communications?

Our client is seeking a creative and experienced Project/Change Communication Specialist to develop engaging communication materials and drive effective communication throughout digital technology initiatives. This role is responsible for designing and producing high-quality change management and project communication tools while ensuring clear, effective, and consistent stakeholder communication across the organisation.

Working closely with Project Managers, project teams, stakeholders, and leadership, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting strategic technology initiatives by combining exceptional communication skills with strong graphic design capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Graphic Design & Creative Content Development

• Design and develop change management and project communication materials.
• Create visually engaging communication tools, templates, infographics, presentations, newsletters, posters, guides, and other communication collateral.
• Ensure all communication materials align with branding standards and project objectives.
• Develop creative resources that support stakeholder engagement and user adoption.

Communication Planning

• Collaborate with internal and external teams to understand project goals and objectives.
• Develop comprehensive communication plans tailored to project requirements.
• Identify key messages and appropriate communication channels for both internal and external stakeholders.
• Assess communication platforms and align them with stakeholder requirements.
• Adhere to communication approval processes and deadlines.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Identify and analyse project stakeholders, both internal and external.
• Develop strategies for engaging and communicating with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage relationships with stakeholders to ensure their information needs are met.

Content Creation

• Develop and manage content for project updates, newsletters, emails, and presentations.
• Write clear, concise, and engaging communication materials for various stakeholders.
• Coordinate with project team members to gather relevant information and updates.

Internal & External Communication

• Ensure the project team is well-informed of project progress, changes, and key decisions.
• Effectively use internal communication tools and platforms to enhance team collaboration.
• Coordinate with internal departments to streamline communication efforts.

Monitoring & Reporting

• Monitor the effectiveness of communication strategies and adjust as needed.
• Provide regular reports on the status and effectiveness of project communications.
• Gather and analyse feedback to improve communication processes.
• Provide guidance and support related to communication gaps and issues.
• Report on communication activities and their impact on project goals.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

• Relevant Degree, Diploma, or NQF Level 4 qualification.
• Bachelor's Degree in Communications or a related field preferred.

Experience

• Experience in professional communication services, including change management communication.
• Proven experience in project communication, preferably within the technology sector.
• Proven experience as a Project/Change Communication Specialist, Change Management Specialist, or in a similar role.
• Proven experience creating professional communication collateral using graphic design tools.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating graphic design and visual communication work.
• Experience designing communication materials for technology or business transformation projects.
• Ability to work within project timelines and across different time zones.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with Change Management methodologies.
• Knowledge of project communication and stakeholder engagement best practices.

Technical Skills

• Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) or equivalent.
• Canva (Advanced).
• Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience creating digital communication assets for change management initiatives.
