Parks and Recreation Lead Maintenance Associate

The Town of Marana is seeking a Parks and Recreation Lead Maintenance Associate to work in the Parks and Recreation Department. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in leading operators, inmates and work activities in the maintenance and repair of the Town’s infrastructure.

SCHEDULE: This position follows a four-day workweek schedule, with four, 10-hour shifts per week.

Expected Hiring Range: $21.6868 - $26.5665 per hour

Salary Range: $21.6868 - $31.4460 per hour

• Placement within the expected salary range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget.

• Leads assigned staff and/or inmate crews; provides service to internal and external customers.
• Tracks and manages work orders, workflow, materials and supplies.  
• Performs routine skilled maintenance and/or landscaping tasks; inspects, cleans and performs routine maintenance work on trucks and equipment; identifies and reports mechanical problems.
• Performs work duties and operates a variety of trucks and equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
• Call, clear and document Blue Stake.

• High school diploma or GED equivalency plus six months of additional education or training
• Over three years’ experience in commercial or residential landscaping, commercial/custodial manual labor, or closely related field.

An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 year inmate supervision experience
• AZDA-PMD Certified Applicator
• Structural Pest Control Certification - right of ways 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid Arizona Driver License
• Must pass a pre-employment physical, 50-pound lift test and audiogram
• Ability to pass both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check
• Ability to pass the Arizona Department of Corrections background 

The selected candidate will also be required to: 

• Obtain and maintain inmate certification post-hire through the Department of Corrections in order to supervise inmates (provided by the Town post hire)
• Must obtain one certification of the following within 9 months: Certified Arborist, or Arizona Certified Pesticide Applicator
