This role requires strong experience in precision machining, dimensional analysis, GD&T interpretation, and manufacturing process optimization while partnering closely with Quality and Production teams to drive product conformity, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

This position is in Middletown, Connecticut.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing routings to optimize machining processes and production workflows.

  • Evaluate detail parts, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies to ensure compliance with engineering requirements and customer flow-down specifications.

  • Troubleshoot dimensional non-conformances and manufacturing issues related to flatness, parallelism, perpendicularity, true position, and other critical characteristics.

  • Review and interpret measurement data obtained from calipers, micrometers, height gauges, visual comparators, and other metrology equipment.

  • Assess manufacturing process capability and identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency.

  • Audit surface roughness, hardness testing results, and functional gaging setups to ensure product quality and process integrity.

  • Collaborate with Quality Engineers to validate dimensional compliance and support First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements.

  • Ensure manufacturing outputs align with engineering intent and technical documentation.

  • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions for quality and production-related issues.

  • Interface with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturing performance and product quality.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline preferred.

  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience within a precision machining, aerospace, or high-tolerance manufacturing environment.

  • Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.

  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and application.

  • Hands-on experience with machine shop metrology tools and inspection equipment.

  • Ability to analyze dimensional data and resolve manufacturing and quality issues.

  • Experience supporting production floor operations and manufacturing process improvements.

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to successfully complete client-required technical interviews and evaluations.

  • Must be a US citizen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced training, certification, or demonstrated expertise in GD&T.

  • Working knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality management systems.

  • Familiarity with AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements and documentation.

  • Experience working in aerospace, defense, or highly regulated manufacturing environments.

  • Knowledge of J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 industry standards.

  • Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices.

Salary Range: $82,500 - $92,500 annually. Compensation may vary based on experience, education, skills, and other factors permitted by applicable law. Initially, this is a 6 month assignment with full time benefits with the possibility of going longer.
