Who We Are
We're an iconic Aussie brand with a global footprint. Our purpose is to build a connected future so everyone can thrive. We're all about providing the best experience and delivering the best tech on the best network.
This includes making Telstra the place you want to work. For you, that means having a career that grows with you and working with a team powered by human connection that prioritises wellbeing, flexibility and choice.
Focus of the Role
At Telstra, we're building a modern, connected capability ecosystem that helps our people learn, grow and thrive. As the Capability & Learning Operations Lead, you will build and drive the evolution of the operations function that enables the effective delivery and continuous operation of capability, learning and career experiences across the organisation.
This role is responsible for creating a high-performing, scalable service model that supports capability and career experiences across content, platforms, assets, support services and governance. You will bring together operational excellence, digital innovation and people leadership to ensure our capability ecosystem runs efficiently, reliably and continuously improves.
You will act as the central coordination point for knowledge, capability and content flow, ensuring updates across skills, career architecture, learning products and employee-facing experiences are connected, consistent and easy to navigate.
You will also play a critical leadership role in strengthening the capability, capacity and operational maturity of Telstra's Talent, Learning & Culture teams, while partnering with stakeholders across multiple functions globally.
What We Offer
At Telstra, we understand that balance matters. That’s why we offer hybrid working arrangements that are primarily work-from-home. You can work where you are most productive, whether that’s at home, in Telstra workspaces, or on the go.
Here’s what else you can look forward to:
Flexible work arrangements
Comprehensive benefits: Medical insurance covering you and your loved ones, including mental health and optical care.
Career growth: Access personalised development plans, mentorship programs, and a range of internal and external learning opportunities.
Work-life balance: Prioritise wellness with our programs promoting physical, mental, and emotional health.
Global opportunities: Be part of a team that operates across 22 countries, opening doors to exciting international experiences.
What You'll Do
Launch and operationalise the Capability & Learning Operations function across content, knowledge, skills and career services.
Define and deliver a scalable service model that enables reliable, efficient and consistent employee experiences.
Oversee the day-to-day operation of capability assets, content and platforms, ensuring they remain current, connected and fit for purpose.
Establish governance frameworks, service standards and operating processes that enable sustainable delivery at scale.
Drive operational excellence through process optimisation, automation and AI-enabled approaches that improve service quality, efficiency and the flow of work.
Lead vendor governance, risk and controls management, ensuring compliance, clear process ownership, spend visibility, service performance and strong commercial discipline across Talent & Learning suppliers.
Own and manage the Managed Training Services partnership, driving service quality, value, efficiency and continuous improvement.
Provide visibility of operational performance, risks and dependencies while driving improvement actions across the function.
Build and lead a high-performing team focused on service delivery, digital operations and continuous improvement.
About You
We encourage applications from people with diverse backgrounds, experiences and career journeys. If you're excited about the opportunity but don't meet every requirement, we'd still love to hear from you.
To be successful in this role you will have:
Experience in transforming, embedding and leading operations, service delivery or shared services functions within a complex environment.
Strong capability in designing and optimising operating models and service delivery frameworks.
Demonstrated success driving operational excellence, process improvement and service performance.
Experience leveraging digital technologies, automation or AI-enabled solutions to improve business outcomes.
Strong systems-thinking capability and the ability to manage complex end-to-end service flows.
Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills across multiple teams and functions.
Experience managing vendors, governance, risk, controls or compliance activities.
The ability to translate strategy into scalable operational execution.
Highly regarded:
Experience in capability, workforce, learning or knowledge management environments.
Exposure to service design or platform-based delivery models.
Experience working within federated or distributed operating models.
Awareness of, and curiosity about, emerging trends across digital operations and AI-enabled services.
Why Join Us?
This is a unique opportunity to shape how capability and learning experiences are delivered across a global organisation. You'll shape the future Capability & Learning Operations team to ensure employees can easily discover, access and engage with development opportunities while driving innovation, operational excellence and continuous improvement.
If you're passionate about building scalable operations, leading talented teams and creating great employee experiences, we'd love to hear from you!
