Job Summary
Reviews medical records, records diet histories, and assesses the nutritional status of oncology patients. Teaches patients and family members the therapeutic diet and modifies the current diet to make lifestyle changes. Monitors patient food tolerances and intake. Assesses patients on parenteral and enteral feedings. Records the assessment on the Progress Note and/or by computerized charting. Collaborates with oncologists and patient care team to provide goals of care in relations to oncology nutrition management and coordination. Responsible for education classes on nutrition and exercises for oncology patients. Serves as a resource for medical nutrition therapy for the community.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education Requirement :
B.S. in Dietetics/ Nutrition or related degree from an accredited college or university. Master’s degree required if registration obtained after January 1, 2024. Active membership in a national professional organization preferred (i.e., Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, American Diabetes Association, National Kidney Foundation, American Association of Diabetes Educators) in order to maintain current knowledge and trends in the profession. Active participation in the local and state organizations is encouraged.
Minimum Experience Requirement :
Three to five years oncology specific experience preferred. Prior experience in clinical dietetics, teaching or counseling is desired. Excellent customer service skills required.
Minimum License Requirement :
Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration or a RD eligible if course work has been completed and the registration examination is scheduled. Board Certified Specialist Oncology Nutrition (CSO) required. BLS preferred.

$41.58 - $62.37
