Job Description: Facilities Engineer
Collins Aerospace Malaysia
Position Overview
Collins Aerospace Malaysia is seeking a Facilities Engineer to support the design, optimization, and management of building systems and infrastructure supporting our aerospace manufacturing operations. This role combines technical engineering expertise with project execution to ensure reliable, efficient, and compliant facility operations that enable world-class aerospace production.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities Engineering and System Design
- Design, specify, and implement facilities infrastructure improvements including HVAC systems, electrical distribution, compressed air systems, cleanroom environments, and utility systems
- Develop engineering solutions for capacity expansion, process optimization, and energy efficiency improvements
- Perform engineering calculations, load analyses, and system modeling to support facility design decisions
- Prepare technical specifications, scope of work documents, and design packages for facilities projects
- Review contractor submittals, engineering drawings, and technical documentation
Project Management and Implementation
- Support facilities capital projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and meeting quality standards
- Coordinate facilities projects including equipment installations, building modifications, and infrastructure upgrades
- Work with internal stakeholders and external consultants, contractors, and vendors
- Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans
Systems Optimization and Reliability
- Analyze facilities performance data to identify optimization opportunities and implement improvement initiatives
- Support preventive maintenance programs and reliability-centered maintenance strategies
- Assist in implementing predictive maintenance technologies and condition monitoring systems
- Participate in root cause analysis investigations for facilities-related incidents and implement corrective actions
- Support energy management initiatives and sustainability programs to reduce environmental impact and operational costs
Compliance and Standards Management
- Ensure facilities design and operations comply with Malaysian regulations including DOSH, UBBL, Suruhanjaya Tenaga, Department of Environment (DOE), and Fire Department requirements
- Maintain compliance with aerospace industry standards and Collins Aerospace corporate requirements
- Support management of regulatory permits, licenses, and certifications for facilities systems and equipment
- Assist in internal and external audits related to facilities compliance and environmental management
- Develop and maintain facilities engineering standards, procedures, and guidelines
Technical Support
- Provide technical support to facilities technicians and maintenance teams
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or other structured methodologies
- Evaluate new technologies and best practices for potential implementation
- Support technical training programs and knowledge transfer activities
- Participate in cross-functional meetings and contribute to strategic planning activities
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related engineering discipline
- Minimum 3-5 years of engineering experience in industrial facilities, manufacturing environments, or building systems design
- Graduate Engineer (Ir.) registration with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) in progress or completed is an advantage
Technical Expertise
- Strong engineering fundamentals in HVAC design, electrical power distribution, mechanical systems, and building automation
- Knowledge of cleanroom design, environmental control systems, and contamination control principles
- Proficiency in engineering software including AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design tools
- Basic knowledge of energy modeling software and analysis tools
- Understanding of utilities systems including chillers, boilers, compressed air, vacuum systems, and process cooling water
