JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Department/Area: Campus Recreation, Facilities

Position Title: Lead Facility Attendant

Reports To: Coordinator of Facilities & Operations

Pay Rate: $14.00/Hour

Description: Lead Facility Attendants must have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced recreational environment while providing excellent customer service and leadership. Lead FA’s must be committed to creating and leading a welcoming environment that enables our student employees and members of the Penn State community to thrive. Lead FA’s must have strong problem-solving and communication skills as well as experience working in a recreational facility.

Facility Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of student employees which includes assisting with student staff scheduling, shift promptness, calling shift rotations, policy enforcement and helping to complete cleaning tasks.
  • Assist in providing exceptional customer services to patrons.
  • Onboard, train, and mentor new and current employees.
  • Assist with the evaluation and accountability of student staff.
  • Facilitate FA audits
  • Aid with Lost & Found.
  • Other facilities staff duties as assigned.

Personal/Professional Development Responsibilities

  • Attend monthly Facility Leadership and Lead Facility Attendant staff meetings.
  • Assist with agenda creation topics and help facilitate Facility Attendant meetings.
  • Create & lead professional development sessions for staff.
  • Provide peer-to-peer performance reviews and track feedback data.
  • Maintain current CPR, First Aid, AED certification

 

Job Requirements & Expectations

  • Must work as a Facility Attendant for a minimum of one semester.
  • Average of 10-12 hours worked per week as a Lead Facility Attendant for Campus Recreation
  • Must be able to accommodate a variable work schedule that will include mornings, evening, weekends, and University breaks.
  •  Ability to build positive relationships, respectfully manage conflicts and model positive rapport with patrons and employees
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Attend two monthly meetings.
  • Promote Campus Recreation programs and services.
  • Balance time commitments.
  • Maintain regular and frequent communication with supervisory team.
  • Ability to interact with diverse groups.
  • Function as a contributing member of the Campus Recreation Team.
