Job Description
Job Summary
Coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to acquire inventory. Acquires and maintains technical understanding of products purchased. Perform cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities. Obtain materials, components, equipment and services. Develop new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are inadequate. Monitor the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure highest quality at best value. May recommend cost-saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis, alternative sourcing and vendor evaluation criteria.
You will report to the Purchasing Manager located in Monterrey.
Essential Functions:
- Monitor supplier order delivery responses, promise date acknowledgements, expedites, and any schedule adjustments, all with communication to and with suppliers.
- Responsible for supplier on time delivery metrics including communicating and engaging corrective action plans with special focus on critical commodities
- Establish relationships with Engineering, Operations, Marketing and Quality.
- Be first contact at Rockwell with special focus on critical commodities to establish levels with suppliers to secure supplier awareness level of Rockwell Automation needs.
- Participate in and support the coordinated purchase agreement programs with the Rockwell Strategic Sourcing organization.
- Participate in localization programs implementing regional alternate sources of supply with agreement with Strategic Sourcing taking a lead on specific project where assigned.
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business administration, Engineering, Materials Management, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management or a related.
- 5 years of experience as direct buyer.
- Purchasing experience in a manufacturing or services environment is helpful
- Influence peers and lead teams.
- Exposure to concepts of contract negotiation and conflict resolution.
- Demonstrate project management skills
- SAP experience
- English Advanced Level
- Excel advanced level
