Working closely with our Underwriting, Actuarial, Technical Accounting, Finance, and Legal colleagues at AXIS Re, as well as brokers, and cedants, the Reinsurance Claims Specialist contributes to claim analysis, portfolio monitoring, and operational effectiveness while developing technical expertise in reinsurance claims handling. Through disciplined claim management, effective communication, and attention to detail, the role helps deliver reliable claims outcomes and supports informed business decisions.

What will you do in this role?

·  Handle assigned reinsurance claims under the guidance of senior claims professionals and in accordance with AXIS Re’s claims guidelines, delegated authorities, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements.

·  Review claim notifications, loss advices, bordereaux, and supporting documentation to support timely and accurate claim handling.

·  Assist in evaluating coverage, liability, financial exposure, and reporting requirements for assigned claims.

·  Maintain accurate claim files, records, and supporting documentation in company systems, including SICS, the Reinsurance Desktop (RDT) and related claims platforms.

·  Establish and monitor claim reserves in accordance with company guidelines and escalate significant issues and developing trends when appropriate.

·  Monitor claim developments and identify material changes, large losses, coverage concerns, loss trend developments, or emerging issues that require management attention.

·  Communicate professionally with brokers, cedants, reinsurers, and internal stakeholders regarding claim activity, information requests, and claim status updates.

·  Support claims audits, file reviews, quality assurance initiatives, and regulatory compliance activities.

·  Assist with management reporting, claims analytics, portfolio reviews, and data validation activities.

·  Build productive working relationships with internal partners, including Underwriting, Actuarial, Finance, Legal, and Operations.

·  Support operational improvements that enhance claims handling efficiency, reporting quality, and data integrity.

·  Assist in preparing, updating and maintaining training materials, desk guides, process documentation, and knowledge-sharing resources as needed.

·  Develop knowledge of reinsurance contract structures, claims processes, and industry practices through training and practical experience.

·  Support the use of reporting tools, data analytics, automation, and emerging technologies that improve workflows and business processes.

·  Represent AXIS Re Claims in cross‑functional initiatives and global casualty working groups as requested.

·  Collaborate across global teams and share knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned across the AXIS Re Claims organization.

·  Identify and support operational and digital reinsurance claims team improvements to support more efficient reinsurance claims handling.

  What we prefer you to have:

   Basic understanding of reinsurance contract structures, coverage interpretation, aggregation and attachment issues.Internship or early-career experience in insurance, reinsurance, banking, finance, legal services, or risk management. Exposure to claims handling, contract review, accounting, regulatory compliance, or data analysis. Familiarity with Power BI, Excel analytics, or other reporting tools. Interest in insurance and reinsurance markets and industry trends. Interest in automation, artificial intelligence, and process improvement. Experience working in a global or multicultural business environment. Multiple Language skills especially in English, French, German, Italian or Spanish.Experience managing international claims or working across multiple jurisdictions.Interest in or knowledge of market developments and emerging risks in reinsurance

  Role Factors:

   In this role, you will typically be required to:Maintain a regular on‑site presence of a minimum of three days per week, in line with AXIS Re office attendance expectations.Travel internationally on an occasional basis to support claims audits and key stakeholder meetings.Build, maintain, and strengthen effective working relationships with internal stakeholders (Underwriting, Actuarial, Finance, Legal) and external partners including cedants, brokers, auditors, and service providers.Actively participate in training and professional development activities to build technical reinsurance claims expertise
