## About this Role

We are seeking an AI Engineer to join the Software & Product Infrastructure team within Infrastructure Engineering. This role is responsible for designing, developing, integrating and operating production-ready Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI and Agentic AI solutions that address complex business challenges and deliver measurable value.

The role combines applied AI expertise with strong software engineering practice, supporting the full solution lifecycle from use case assessment, design and prototyping through to testing, deployment, monitoring, support and continuous improvement. Working closely with engineering, data, platform, security, product and business stakeholders, the AI Engineer translates business requirements into scalable technical solutions, including machine learning models, LLM-based applications, RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, APIs and cloud-native services.

The role also ensures that AI solutions are reliable, secure, compliant, cost-effective and aligned with responsible AI, privacy and security standards.

## What you’ll do

• Design, develop and test AI solutions using machine learning, deep learning, NLP, computer vision, Generative AI and Agentic AI techniques.
• Develop and integrate LLM-based applications, prompt patterns, RAG pipelines and AI workflows into enterprise systems and platforms.
• Build, optimise and maintain AI software to process large datasets, improve prediction accuracy and deliver reliable business outcomes.
• Architect scalable, secure and maintainable AI pipelines across cloud, on-premise and hybrid infrastructure.
• Expose and consume standardised tools and capabilities through APIs, MCP Servers and reusable integration patterns.
• Enable interoperability across AI models, agents, services and enterprise platforms.
• Evaluate and integrate open-source and proprietary AI tools, model providers and automation frameworks.
• Support functional and non-functional testing, including model evaluation, performance, reliability, security and user acceptance testing.
• Prepare release packages for test and production environments.
• Contribute to deployment, monitoring, observability and lifecycle management of AI solutions.
• Investigate and resolve defects, incidents and problems during development and application lifecycle, including Level 2 and Level 3 support where applicable.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, data, security and business teams to identify, assess and prioritise impactful AI use cases.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions and explain technical implications, risks and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
• Collect, organise and present progress updates, technical recommendations and lessons learned to team leadership and stakeholders.
• Ensure AI solutions follow responsible AI, privacy, security, compliance and data protection standards.
• Implement controls against data leakage, prompt injection and misuse.
• Monitor emerging AI trends, tools, regulations and market developments, proactively recommending relevant improvements or new applications.
• Contribute to reusable engineering practices, documentation, standards and knowledge sharing across AI delivery teams.
• Support onboarding and integration of new team members by preparing and running knowledge-transfer sessions.
• Build technical redundancy within the team by writing, sharing and explaining technical documentation, operating procedures and solution architecture.
• Participate in team, department and company initiatives, strategic projects and cross-cutting objectives.
• Provide technical support, mentoring and guidance to fellow team members.

## Who you are

• Proven experience developing, deploying and supporting AI, machine learning or Generative AI solutions in production environments.
• Strong understanding of machine learning concepts, deep learning, NLP, computer vision, LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG and model evaluation techniques.
• Experience across the AI solution lifecycle, including functional design, prototyping, testing, deployment, monitoring, support and continuous improvement.
• Good knowledge of software engineering principles, algorithms, object-oriented and functional design, API development and best-practice implementation patterns.
• Experience working with large datasets, data analysis, statistical methods and data quality considerations.
• Understanding of scalable, secure and compliant AI architectures, including cloud-native services, microservices, integration patterns and observability.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with product, data, platform, security, operations and business stakeholders in a complex matrix environment.
• Strong communication, presentation and analytical skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear business language.
• Track record of taking initiative to solve complex engineering problems, improve delivery practices and support product or service improvements.
• Ability to learn fast-evolving AI technologies, prioritise workload and operate effectively in high-availability or regulated environments.
• Commitment to continuously developing technical knowledge and skills, including at senior level.
• University degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering, Telecommunications or equivalent professional experience.
• Proficient in English, both spoken and written.Strong programming skills in Python.
• Experience with Java, C++ or other AI and software development languages would be advantageous.
• Hands-on experience with deep learning and machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch or equivalent.Experience with LLM providers and platforms such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI or equivalent, including provider abstraction where applicable.
• Knowledge of RAG, vector databases, prompt engineering, model evaluation, agentic patterns and multi-agent topologies.
• Experience exposing or consuming MCP Servers and implementing standardised tools or capability interfaces for AI systems would be advantageous.
• Experience building REST APIs, cloud-native microservices and integrations using SOAP, REST JSON or equivalent communication protocols.
• Understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD tools and modern software delivery practices.
• Knowledge of security and compliance controls such as OAuth2/OIDC, secret management, network isolation, PII controls and responsible AI guardrails.
