Job Description

The Sanitation Coordinator will work with members of the production departments in developing, updating and auditing sanitation documents as required by policy.  The analyst will also be responsible for working with the microbiology lab performing clean equipment and environmental checks.   Alternate workweeks and shifts will be required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintain cleaning chemicals inventory and Soap Room.  Monitor and calibrate departmental allocation systems.
  • Administrative work to order and replenish chemicals and sanitation supplies as needed.  Daily data entry of receipts, inventory adjustments and physical receipts utilizing the iPaySmart / SmartKart systems.
  • Coordinate and participate in monthly Chemical vendor visits and sanitation audits
  • Assist in conducting CIP system validations and follow-up corrective actions for compliance and continuous improvement
  • Assist in correction, corrective action, and effectiveness reviews for sanitation CAPA findings
  • Support sanitation initiatives and plant related projects
  • Participate in department GMP inspections and extraneous matter assessments
  • Oversee plant pest control programs and third party pest control operator visits.  Track and report trends.
  • Coordinate, train, and conduct minor repairs and battery upkeep on sanitation equipment (i.e. scrubbers, sprayers, vacuums, etc.)
  • Log and record daily chemical usage.  Provide chemical usage reports as needed.
  • Maintain CIP systems including but not limited to:  supply of chemicals, minor pump repair and hose replacements.  Audit the circuits and provide technical support and training as needed. Troubleshooting of issues involving CIP systems required.
  • Facilitate employee sanitation training in orientation and in annual review classes.
  • Perform weekly Pre-Op clean equipment inspections and assist in laydown equipment inspections as assigned.
  • Complete sanitation reports and audits as directed by Sanitation supervisor or manager including monthly PIC/PEC results
  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and annually reviewing department period cleaning master schedules
  • Perform swabbing and environmental testing as scheduled by microbiology lab.
  • Assist in conducting and collecting data for production line validation studies and/or extended runs
  • Assist in developing and auditing sanitation programs for compliance to policies and safety PPE requirements.
  • Train employees in sanitation procedures and programs (i.e. cleaning equipment, chemical titrations, equipment swabbing) to ensure food safety.
  • This person has the responsibility to operate under the Kraft Heinz Safety Values.
  • Adhere to all safety and environmental policies, procedures and compliance programs.
  • Work toward achieving an injury free environment.
  • Sweep and scrub plant floors at required frequencies.
  • Operate forklift  (Certification Required) and other materials handling equipment.  Must be able to maneuver 450# barrels of chemicals.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  High School Diploma or equivalent. Strong background in sanitation policies and procedures.  Proficient in CIP systems and methods. Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CMMS).

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively with employees, providing verbal training and instruction. Able to write reports, audits, procedures, and other documents.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY

  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and toxic or caustic chemicals.  The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud (85+dB). Must wear personal protective equipment necessary for handling chemicals including but not limited to gloves, goggles, respirators, aprons, boots, hearing protection, etc.

TRAINING REQUIRED 160 hours. On-the-job.
