Description
This position is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment at Tribal government facilities. This role combines security enforcement, customer service, and cultural respect, ensuring protection of people, property, and Tribal assets while supporting daily operations.1. Inspect assigned areas on foot, in vehicles, or on bicycles to deter crime and ensure safety
2. Verify identification for employees, visitors, and contractors
3. Enforce access policies and procedures to prevent unauthorized entry to facility, or areas within the facility.
4. Monitor CCTV and network cameras, alarm systems, and entry/exit points for suspicious activity or hazards.
5. Evict trespassers, detain violators (within legal limits), and report incidents to authorities or supervisors.
6. Inspect and secure buildings, gates, doors, and equipment; ensure emergency call boxes and lights are functional.
7. Document daily activities, incidents, and irregularities in detailed reports.
8. Submit daily shift reports.
9. Assist in emergencies, including responding to alarms, evacuations, or hazardous conditions (if trained).
10. Monitors all entry/exit points into and out of facilities.
11. Assists with visitor logs and issues badges or passes, when necessary.
12. Maintains a physical presence during Council Meetings, Annual Meetings, and other events.
13. Inspect and doors, windows, gates, and restricted areas.
14. Identify and report observed safety hazards or maintenance issues.
15. Observe and report suspicious behavior or activities to authorities or supervisors.
16. Respond to incidents such as disturbances, medical emergencies, or security breaches.
17. De-escalate conflicts using professional communication techniques.
18. Coordinate with Tribal law enforcement or emergency services, when required.
19. Greet employees, Tribal members, and visitors in a professional manner.
20. Maintain a respectful, culturally aware presence.
21. Assist in emergency evacuations and drills.
22. Performs other related duties as assigned.1. G3: Highschool diploma or GED with one year specified experience.
2. G4: Highschool diploma or GED with two years specified experience.
3. Employees must be willing to acquire any special certifications or attend any training that is determined to be relevant or become required of the position in the future.
4. Candidates with equivalent combinations of education, training and experience will be considered.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Ability to obtain BSIS (Guard Card) within 30 days of hire date.
2. Obtain CPR certification within 6 months of hire date.
3. Ability to read, write, and understand English.
4. Good computer, writing, and documenting skills.
5. Strong observation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to respond to emergencies with a calm professional demeanor.
7. Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
8. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
9. Good understanding of confidentiality practices.
10. Recognition that in order to serve Yurok People one must know as much as possible about Yurok history, culture and values.This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
