We are seeking an experienced and client-focused leader to manage our Corporate FX and OTC Derivative Operations team in Australia and New Zealand. This role is a fantastic opportunity for a strategic thinker with a passion for people leadership and a deep understanding of financial markets.
As a key member of the Australia and New Zealand Markets Operations management team, you will be responsible for leading a diverse team, driving operational excellence, and strengthening our relationships with a client base. Reporting to the Head of Markets Operations for Australia and New Zealand, you will act as a crucial link between our operations, our clients, and the front office, ensuring the seamless delivery of our services.
The ideal candidate is a natural leader and coach, adept at managing complex stakeholder relationships, and passionate about delivering a superior client experience.
In this role, you’re expected to:
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead, coach, and manage a diverse team covering Corporate FX Operations and OTC Derivative Operations.
Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
Act as an advisor and mentor to junior staff, supporting their professional growth and development.
Effectively supervise team activities, creating accountability and ensuring high standards of performance are maintained.
Client & Stakeholder Management:
Serve as a primary client-facing figure for Markets Operations, enhancing relationships with a diverse clientele including large corporates, investment managers, government entities, and superannuation funds.
Partner closely with the Front Office, including Sales and Trading, to ensure alignment and deliver integrated client solutions.
Manage key stakeholder relationships across the business, second-line risk areas, and regional/global partners to drive initiatives and resolve issues.
Coordinate with internal and external clients to assess service quality, gather feedback, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Operational Excellence & Strategy:
Develop and implement strategic business initiatives, bespoke client solutions, and projects related to securities and derivatives settlement.
Drive the enhancement of our settlement processes, proposing improvements to increase efficiency, enhance client service, and leverage technology.
Contribute to the definition of processing standards and expectations for the securities and derivatives processing teams.
Analyze and solve complex inquiries, conducting discovery and due diligence activities to meet client requests and resolve escalated issues.
Risk & Control:
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, with particular consideration for the firm's reputation and the protection of Citigroup, its clients, and assets.
Drive compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to internal policies and applying sound ethical judgment.
Proactively escalate, manage, and report control issues with transparency.
As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:
Experience: 6-10 years of relevant experience in financial markets operations.
Market Knowledge: A strong understanding of financial markets, specifically covering FX and OTC products (Rates, Commodities).
Leadership: Proven experience in people management with a demonstrated ability to coach, lead, and motivate a diverse team.
Communication: Consistently demonstrates clear, concise, and professional written and verbal communication skills.
Stakeholder Management: Exceptional ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, internal business partners, and senior stakeholders.
