Overview

Wonderful, warm, first-time parents on the Upper East Side are looking for an experienced Newborn Care Specialist (NCS)/nanny to help care for their 4-month-old son. 

 

The family would like someone who can become a long-term, trusted part of their  family and provide consistency and stability for their son. Initially, the schedule will be overnight support for approximately 2–3 months, ideally on a 14-hour schedule from 6:00 PM–8:00 AM, Monday through Saturday. The family is open to adding a second NCS to provide long-term coverage. Ideally, the candidate will work with them during this initial period and, if it is a good fit, transition into a longer-term NCS or nanny role. At least one trial day will be requiredThis position requires the candidate to have a collaborative, calm, peaceful, and  steady presence in their son's life. This is a great opportunity for a caregiver who is confident, nurturing, organized, and able to create a consistent routine. Local candidates only, please.

Responsibilities

Include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide attentive, loving care for the infant 
  • Manage overnight care, including feeding, bathing, soothing, diapering, and helping him maintain a healthy sleep routine
  • Follow and help establish consistent daily and nighttime routines
  • Pay close attention to his cues, development, and changing needs
  • Communicate clearly with parents about sleep, feeding, mood, milestones, and keep a log
  • Keep the nursery organized and tidy
  • Handle the baby's laundry using the washer/dryer in the apartment
  • Do light cleaning and tidying related to the baby 
  • Help keep the baby's environment calm, clean, and organized
  • Work collaboratively with parents and other family members/caregivers when needed
  • Provide knowledgeable newborn guidance and support to the parents

Qualifications

  • Calm, patient, warm, and nurturing
  • Confident handling overnight care independently
  • Understands infant sleep, feeding, and developmental needs
  • Discreet and professional
  • Works well in a busy household without becoming overwhelmed
  • Takes initiative and notices what needs to be done
  • Collaborative and supportive
  • Highly reliable and consistent

Requirements

  • Extensive experience caring for newborns and young infants
  • Ability to commit for at least 2 months and provide the family with first right of refusal for extension of contract
  • Excellent communicator and proactive in addressing concerns
  • CPR Certified
  • Up-to-date vaccinations
  • Legal to work in the U.S.

Salary and Benefits

The family is offering $40+/hr, commensurate with experience.
