Description
Copper River Data Solutions is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to provide onsite quality assurance support for the procurement, installation, repair, replacement, and construction of major facility systems at Building 8100, including Utility Monitoring and Controls (UMCS), Building Automation Systems (BAS), and Electronic Security Systems (ESS) onsite position at Fort Detrick, MD.
The Quality Assurance Specialist will support operations, repair, maintenance, and construction activities while ensuring projects comply with applicable codes, standards, safety requirements, and facility-specific criteria. This position will work closely with facility management, project management, laboratory personnel, infection control and safety personnel, and Government representatives.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Provide onsite quality assurance support for the procurement, installation, repair, replacement, and construction of UMCS, BAS, ESS, and related facility systems.
- Evaluate project schedules and perform technical and project documentation reviews to support successful project execution.
- Coordinate daily activities and actions with the Facility Manager, Project Manager, facilities staff, and other applicable stakeholders.
- Attend project and operational meetings in support of operations, repair, maintenance, and construction programs.
- Provide weekly oral status updates and communicate project progress, issues, risks, and other relevant information to Government officials.
- Maintain availability to support and address ongoing project issues, quality concerns, and other matters requiring immediate attention.
- Ensure project activities conform to applicable codes, standards, and agency requirements, including NFPA codes, BMBL, AAALAC standards, CDC biosafety and biosecurity standards, and other applicable criteria.
- Conduct field surveys to evaluate existing facility layouts, conditions, equipment, and systems and identify potential project impacts.
- Provide project updates, quality assurance documentation, and reports to the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) and other appropriate Government officials.
- Coordinate with facility infection control personnel to ensure project activities meet applicable infection control requirements.
- Coordinate with facility safety personnel to implement and maintain effective safety practices throughout project execution.
- Coordinate with laboratory personnel to ensure appropriate project reviews, notifications, scheduling, and utility outage requirements are addressed.
Essential Job Qualifications and Requirements:
- Security Clearance:
- Active Secret security clearance required
- Education:
- Associate’s degree or higher in a technical discipline, such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related engineering field
- Required Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience working in high-containment medical research facilities
- Minimum of 10 years of experience with mechanical controls
- Minimum of 5 years of Quality Assurance/Quality Control experience in a biosafety laboratory environment
- Demonstrated experience with high-containment environments, up to BSL-4, involving medical research mechanical controls engineering, programming, installation, plumbing, and validation
- Experience reviewing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and conducting quality control inspections for high-containment, up to BSL-4, medical research design and construction projects
- Experience with CDC auditing, accreditation, and certification processes applicable to select-agent and high-containment, up to BSL-4, medical research facilities
- Preferred Qualifications
- Electrical, mechanical, and/or controls trade experience
- Proficiency with Direct Digital Controls (DDC) and DDC system design
- Prior experience supporting Government construction projects
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively coordinate with Government personnel, facility management, project teams, laboratory personnel, safety and infection control staff, and other stakeholders
