Patient Services Representative is a unique position that varies daily based on the clinical or clerical staffing needs of the practice. Duties often include supporting the physicians and/or mid-level providers in the practice with clinical activities and direct patient care as well as assisting patients and staff with the administrative and clerical needs of the practice.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with outpatient clinics to schedule cardiac testing and invasive cardiovascular procedures.
- Collaborate with outpatient and inpatient services to verify patient demographics, procedural ordering, and procedural authorization.
- Reconcile provider and schedules with procedural unit schedules and verify appropriate block utilization
- Creates and organizes all aspects of patient charts, maintains adequate levels of office supplies.
- Manage the operations of the front desk of the department, provide a welcoming forward facing demeanor for all incoming outpatients and provider requests.
Required Skills and Experience:
- High School or equivalent experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
- Strong interpersonal skills with experience in customer service
- Good time management and prioritization skills
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Previous medical office experience preferred
- College-level training/education in a healthcare support field preferred
- Previous EMR use/training helpful
- Experience in Electronic Medical Record Systems such as Meditech, Medent, and Epic
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent hand and finger use (e.g., to operate a computer keyboard).
- Lifting and carrying items up to 40 lbs. (e.g., boxes, equipment, etc.), with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, or crouch for tasks such as retrieving items from lower shelves or filing in low drawers.
- Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods, as the position may require.
- Capacity to operate job-related equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Location and Travel Requirements:
- Location: Onsite at Cortland Urgent Care: 1129 Commons Ave, Cortland, NY 13045
- Shift: Days/Evenings; weekends and holidays as assigned
- Travel: 25% local travel may be expected to cover other locations if needed
Pay Range Disclosure:
- Standard rate of $18.50 - $23.00 per hour plus benefits
