KP850 - Part-Time/Full-Time Nanny - Manhattan

Overview

A warm family on the Upper East Side is seeking an energetic, creative, highly professional early childhood nanny to provide dedicated one-on-one care and developmental support for their 3-year-old son. The family are open to discussing both a part-time and full-time schedule for the right candidate. The part-time schedule will be 9/10am-1pm (since the toddler attends preschool from 1pm through 4pm), and then if candidates would like to supplement these hours to get closer to a 40-hour week, they may work weekends from generally 9/10am through 5pm. 

 

The nanny will provide holistic, developmentally tailored one-on-one early education, including designing nutritionally balanced weekly children’s menus (there is a chef), maintaining structured daily routines, delivering immersive full-English language exposure, guiding social etiquette, peer interaction, emotional regulation, and cognitive growth. The ideal candidate will patiently coach the toddler through developmental learning moments such as sharing, turn-taking, and polite communication, fully supporting his social development and top private school readiness.

 

No driving is required, and any travel during the next approximately 18 months is very likely to be domestic. The family is willing to wait for the right candidate rather than rush the hiring process. 

Responsibilities

The family currently employs an individual who handles cooking and household cleaning, so the nanny's focus will be primarily on the toddler's care, development, education, and activities.

 

The successful nanny will take an active and thoughtful role in the toddler's development, creating a warm, stimulating environment that encourages curiosity, confidence, independence, and positive social behavior.

 

Responsibilities will include:

• Providing attentive, nurturing one-on-one care for a 3-year-old child.
• Building a genuine connection with the toddler and understanding his individual personality, interests, and opinions.
• Designing creative, age-appropriate games, activities, outings, and learning experiences throughout New York City.
• Providing immersive English-language exposure throughout the day to accelerate fluency and confidence.
• Supporting early academic development and preparing the toddler for future private-school environments.
• Teaching manners, etiquette, polite communication, sharing, turn-taking, patience, and respectful interaction.
• Supporting emotional regulation and helping the toddler navigate age-appropriate developmental challenges.
• Encouraging cognitive development, creativity, problem-solving, independence, and curiosity.
• Reading stories and incorporating storytelling, conversation, music, art, and imaginative play into daily routines.
• Planning balanced, nutritious weekly children's menus in coordination with the family's chef.
• Supporting structured morning and evening routines, including bedtime preparation and storytelling.
• Taking the toddler on appropriate educational, cultural, recreational, and developmental outings.
• Maintaining clear communication with the parents regarding the toddler's progress, interests, routines, and development.

As the family grows, the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to take on a senior nanny/lead caregiver role, helping to coordinate and mentor junior nannies as the household expands. There are two additional children (twin siblings aged 1½ years) who are currently living in Beijing and are expected to relocate to New York City in the next 12-18 months. The long-term plan is to establish a professional nanny team consisting of a highly experienced lead nanny and junior nannies, supported by household cooking/cleaning staff.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be:

• Experienced in caring for children aged 3 years and up and supporting early childhood development.
• Warm, energetic, engaging, patient, and genuinely passionate about working with young children.
• Creative and imaginative, with the ability to turn everyday experiences into meaningful learning opportunities.
• Confident establishing boundaries while maintaining a positive and affectionate relationship with a child
• Highly professional, reliable, discreet, and comfortable working within a high-standard private household.
• A fluent or highly proficient English speaker, ideally with experience providing immersive English-language care.
• Knowledgeable about developmental milestones, social-emotional development, and early childhood education.
• Comfortable organizing activities and outings independently.
• Interested in becoming a long-term member of the family's childcare team.
• Ideally experienced in a private-family or UHNW/high-profile household environment.
• A natural leader who could eventually supervise and mentor junior childcare staff.

International nanny experience, private-school preparation experience, and formal early-childhood education or childcare qualifications would be highly valued.

• Compensation: $50+ per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and schedule.
