The Installation Engineering team is responsible for the creation of specialty methods and tools that enable wind turbine installation across all segments. In this global role, the Systems Integration Leader will be a focal point between Installation Engineering, New Units design teams, field teams, and regional projects teams to optimize the safety, efficiency, and cost of wind turbine installations, and to drive turbine design decisions that facilitates the installation process.
The systems integration leader will drive the mission by providing clear requirements to the New Units teams for DFI (Design for Installation), fostering early risk identification, and partnering with New Units and Installation Engineering design teams to implement risk mitigating solutions and create innovative tooling solutions.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead subsystem-level installation design reviews for new units covering the above-mentioned capabilities & material handling. Responsible for Installation Engineering deliverables in the NPI TG process
• Identify specialty tooling needed for each new turbine platform or platform design change. Identify and track required changes to the list as the platform evolves.
• Lead virtual installation walk-throughs of processes involving multiple tools to ensure installation readiness, and to identify improvements and risk mitigations in the installation sequences.
• Support Serviceability SIL in the creation of DM1 inputs for installation – clearly stating critical requirements such a wind speed limits, installation capabilities required, etc.
• Directly interface with Installation Engineers to provide product requirements for the new tools and to launch programs in alignment with the rest of subsystems.
• Directly interface with New Units Systems Integration Leaders and Systems engineers to drive component and system-level design decisions and trade-offs related to installation.
• Identify major risks pertaining to the above-mentioned programs & capabilities, work cross-functionally with Systems Integration Leaders, Installation Engineering team & Product Line to develop process FMEAs and mitigation plans.
• Provide technical support & inputs to the installation business cases / capability matrix, taking into account complexity, wind speed limits, crane sizes, etc.
• Escalate potential EHS issues as needed to Services EHS & Engineering Safety Team
• Maintain broad awareness of efforts within Installation Engineering and Repair Technology teams to assure lessons learned and responsiveness to customer/program needs.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Civil or equivalent)
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Onshore Wind
• Ability and willingness to travel globally up to 10% of the time
• Ability and willingness to climb wind turbines and work at heights
• Proficiency with English both written and oral communication
