Working with industrial, commercial and public sector clients, Axis delivers high-quality environmental compliance services, helping organisations meet regulatory requirements and environmental obligations.

Part of the Celnor Group

Celnor Group is a UK-based environmental services group operating across the Testing, Inspection, Certification and Compliance (TICC) landscape. With a growing portfolio of specialist businesses, Celnor provides essential services that protect people, property and the environment.

While each business retains its own identity, culture and technical specialism, all are supported by a central group function that invests in people, systems and long-term sustainable growth.

About the Role

We are seeking a Trainee Air Emissions Technician to join our growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or technically minded individual looking to begin a career within the environmental sector. Through structured training and hands-on experience, you will develop specialist skills in air emissions monitoring, stack testing and environmental compliance.

The role is primarily field-based, involving travel to industrial sites throughout Ireland. Based from our Limerick office, you'll work closely with experienced technicians, learning how to conduct emissions monitoring projects, collect environmental data and produce technical reports. Some overnight stays will be required as part of the role.

Axis offers a clearly defined progression pathway, enabling successful candidates to develop into fee-earning technicians and progress into more senior technical roles over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Travel to client sites across Ireland to support air emissions monitoring projects.
  • Assist with stack emissions testing and environmental monitoring activities.
  • Prepare monitoring equipment and project documentation.
  • Collect, record and analyse environmental data.
  • Support the preparation of technical reports and compliance documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records in line with company quality systems and ISO 17025 standards.
  • Work safely in accordance with risk assessments and health and safety procedures.
  • Work alongside experienced technicians to develop technical competence.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the business.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related scientific discipline.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Interest in environmental monitoring and technical field work.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel nationally and stay away from home when required.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and at height when necessary.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual who enjoys technical problem-solving and working with data.

The successful candidate will be eager to learn, self-motivated and comfortable working in a field-based environment. You'll enjoy practical work, be willing to travel and have a genuine interest in developing a long-term career within environmental compliance and emissions monitoring.

Salary and Benefits

  • Basic salary of €30,680 per annum.
  • Structured training and development programme.
  • Clear career progression pathway with defined salary progression.
  • Opportunity to develop specialist emissions monitoring expertise.
  • Exposure to a variety of industrial sectors throughout Ireland.
  • Supportive and collaborative working environment.
