This temporary contract role provides strategic commercial and contracts advisory support across offshore operational contracting, including planning, tendering, negotiation, contract development, contract management, supplier performance, claims, variations, and governance. Reporting to the Contract Team Lead and working closely with operational leaders, technical teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders, the Senior Contracts Advisor will help ensure contracting activities are commercially robust, operationally practical, risk-aware, and aligned with organisational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead value-driven contracting activities that support safe, reliable, and commercially effective offshore oil and gas operations.
- Develop and execute contracting and negotiation strategies that balance cost, quality, operational continuity, risk, and supplier performance.
- Provide commercial and contracts advisory support across offshore services, maintenance, logistics, marine, drilling, engineering, shutdown, asset integrity, and related operational activities.
- Partner with operational, technical, HSE, and contract owner stakeholders to ensure scopes, contract terms, procurement processes, and supplier obligations are fit for purpose.
- Manage key aspects of the contract lifecycle, including tendering, evaluation, contract development, approvals, governance, variations, claims, disputes, and close-out.
- Monitor supplier performance, compliance, risk, and value delivery, recommending corrective actions and improvement opportunities where required.
- Support consistent contracting practices, commercial discipline, and stakeholder capability across the business.
Required Experience
- Minimum10 years’ experience in contracts, procurement, or commercial roles within oil and gas, energy, offshore operations, or major projects.
- Strong understanding of contract law and commercial principles in an oil and gas context.
- Experience with industry standard contracts and bespoke oil and gas agreements.
- Proven experience managing claims, variations, disputes, and commercial risk on high-value contracts.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A pragmatic, commercial mindset with strong attention to detail and risk awareness.
- Ability to operate autonomously in fast-paced, high-pressure operational environments.
Additional Personal Attributes
- Able to build trusted relationships internally and externally.
- Strong influencing capability with internal stakeholders, suppliers, contractors, and external partners.
- High levels of self-motivation, initiative, and adaptability.
- Strong analytical skills and commercial judgement.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise with peers, management, suppliers, contractors, and regulatory or industry associations.
